I am constantly finding that i need to glue certain unusual objects together like paper and metal, or wood and cotton, cats to dogs, you know the usual. So I ran across this little website thought you might like it http://www.thistothat.com/.
Sorry about not posting anything new but I am back and hope to stay.

I've referenced that site a few times over the years it is very intuitive and handles many cases.

Does anyone know of a good reference site like that concerning how to separate things you've glued together? I usually end up on google and getting conflicting info.

Thanks, Dean

I'm far from being a chemist or a glue specialist, but a good start would be to know if the glue uses a substance for solvent. If it does, just use the same, and it will let go.
The usual glues use water or alcohol as solvents, so if you use them, the pieces will separate. That's not much, I know, but it's a start.

That's correct. Most water-based glues are solvable with water. Other kinds of glue can be removed with grease or butter. So if you have glued your fingers together with CA glue by accident, use oil to separate them ;-) .This trick can be used to remove stickers and price tags from a surface or a blister packaging: Pull off the tag / sticker and then gently wipe off the residue with a soft cloth and some butter.

But be careful: If the surface is unable to withstand the oil / butter, it will get a grease spot.

Hahahaha. WHEEEEW. I thought for so long that gluing cats to dogs was just my own closet thing. Glad to be in good company. I also discovered that the butter trick works well as revell-fan said. While that was not the intention when placing those same glued cats and dogs in a butter bath, i did find it out quite by accident. Im glsd that dogs just kerp loving you mostly unconditionally...that glue and butter stunt msy have over reached yhat.
We 've not met as im new but its great to meet you now.

Wow, I'm so glad I found this site. I'm learning so much it's fired up my interest in scratch building again.

I've experimented with glue, spot putty, femo type stuff in my plastic model builds, but this is going to speed up my custom and scratch builds immensely.

Thanks guys.
