ARMORMAN's WARHAMMER 40K Models Thread

I agree with so much of this, and as we all know, the most powerful chapter of Space Marines are the "Angry Marines"...

You've got to respect a marines chapter that actually have a dedicated device called the "angry marine launcher", that's specifically for hurling one of their fellow marines at the enemy (middle fingers at full extension all the way) solely for the purpose of getting close enough to use their POWER BOOTS TO KICK THE ENEMY TO DEATH!

http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Angry_Marines (!!!LANGUAGE NOT SAFE FOR WORK!!!)

Originally just a passing joke among the 40k community, they actually have a full, albeit unofficial, Codex now! Download it some time and it's well worth a laugh even just for the fluff... Definitely not safe for "little eyes" but the game is really meant for grown-ups anyway.

From a game-play perspective, they are akin to a gaggle of blood angels all having a simultaneous nuclear meltdown. Simultaneously hilarious and terrifying... for both sides...

If you can make it through that article without at least a snicker, you should be checked for a pulse!

And one should not forget the Titan Legion (Legio Iratus, IIRC) and the Sister Of Battle version, (Sisters of the Crimson Tide IIRC) that can join them in battle.

Sorry, newb here.....
What kind of paper does Newobmij use to print his stormtalon?
Colors look rich, but paper isn't super glossy like photo paper...just curious.
Thanks

Is anyone aware of a purpose built Landspeeder Storm set, I could always limo out the standard landspeeder but I am skeptical of my modifications especially when its for a friend.

Paper types

Armorman - I've got a painted/modified version of one of Eli's vehicle's. I want to get his approval (& input) on what I did before any distribution happens. I just have to reassemble the PDF. Should I upload it, then PM you with the location?

Deadleave - Glossy photo paper is just one possibility. There is Matte photo paper, poster board (matte or glossy), tag board, plain paper (laminated onto cardstock or cereal box cardboard). Anything you can fit into your printer. Check you printers manual to see what paper(s) it will feed.

Check out an office supply store - cardstock (sometime called cover stock) comes in many different weights (roughly equals thickness). I have been using 12"x18" tag board because I can print 2 A4 pages side-by-side.

You should also try the forum search engine for more info on this. There are probably a lot more than I've mentioned here.

thx, Eli's pretty loose on letting people mod his design (he just wants to make sure it's released for free). Go ahead and UL it and I can pass it on.

I'd do a google search, or look on Komando.com. Kim Komando or PC World will have some links and some good (meaning actually useful) reviews.

Hey anyone see the new Centurion models over at Games Workshop? They look like half terminator half dreadnaught. The feet reminded me of a Silveroxide build of a scout walker. Pretty cool.

Very cool stuff there... I like how some of the later pictures are of the Imperial Fist chapter paint-scheme... Which even Games Workshop has had to admit has been more or less hijacked by the Angry Marines chapter and the players who like them even if only for a laugh :D

I wonder if it would be practical to try a paper model for Centurions though being that they'd really be comparable to terminators and at that scale it's just so "fiddly" with itty bitty detail pieces.

Yeah, I haven't seen the scale of them next to the regular marines. If they were dreadnaughtish then they might be doable. It's always nice to see the professional paint jobs. That's also why I love Silveroxides posts!!!

They are marines in armor in armor....literally.

Indeed, I think it's akin to the Grey Knights' "Nemesis DreadKnight", but since those are more or less exclusive to their chapter, the other chapters were said to be lacking an intermediary between terminator and dreadnoughts...

So I'm thinking that is where the Centurions fit in nicely for the other various chapters... The Grey Knights keep their special unit alternative to the typical dreadnought, and the other chapters get a "general purpose" middle-ground between the terminators and dreadnoughts that already exists.

Please keep in mind I haven't checked a codex, nor their stats, but I'm betting the DreadKnight is still a hair "better" in some respects, however he's a lone soldier and a prime target. The Centurions look to be in a three man squad (base? perhaps expandible?) and while individually less threatening than a DreadKnight, collectively they are utterly savage...

I can envision using them as fire-support for assaulting units, purposely letting them both draw the most threat and savage infantry units from the center while having various units do an end-run on either side.

Another thing I've been wondering, now that Chaos has Dreadnought "variants" dubbed Helbrutes, will they now also get proper Chaos Centurions and even Centurion-variants akin to the Helbrute?

The Centurions make for a lot of interesting ideas, but also raise a lot of interesting questions. Add to that the Codexes already being in print, they will (likely) fall into the world of Eratta and Addemdums which is a bit less than desirable.

That cannon is awesome! Remove the chapter markings (or replace them with generic-looking logos or designations) and you could use it in any sci-fi-ish setting without any problem, it doesn't look too grimdark despite fitting right in on 40K
