Michael,
Your modeling efforts are wonderful to see. This is an incredible thing to watch, and you are a very talented person. After seeing some other modeling forums, the plastic modeling ones, it amazes me how spoiled some people are. They complain about even the most beautiful kit being 'not perfect enough' or not having enough detail, and 'I can't build this unless I get every photo etched part, and on and on. No one wants to put the effort into scratchbuilding even a basic detail.... They should all see this thread, and be humbled, this is true 'scale model building' at it's finest. Way to show 'em how it's done!
Best regards,
Mike

Hi,
I am back. But I stopped building for a few weeks. I am waiting for new paper and other materials like capton foil. The drawings for the ascent stage are in progress. Maybe I will build the cabin structure from polystyrol sheets. I think that then the form becomes smoother.

We have here in Germany a new collection of spacecrafts. The newest item is a mock up of a LM. That perfect for my project. :thumb:

Regards

Michael

Gotta say - Major Kudos.
Trying to build these legs so that they are deployable on both positions has been a major headache on my 1/48 build, and, to my eternal shame, have sort of hung up the entire Greelt stack project. That being said, now I have inspiration to go with my free time, so Thanks.

Hello friends,
I had stopped working on the LM, because the tropical heat in Germany. The clue dries to fast. But I have completed the collecting of the different construction materials. I will start with the construction of the ascent stage next. For workable hinges of the descent stages outriggers I need more information. I looking for the Virtual LM book, but it is sold out.

Regards from tropical Germany. In Heidelberg they cultivate bananas outside of the greenhouse, how crazy.

The cold front is here. But only for two days. The forecast says that we get 39°C (102°F) at the weekend. But the high humidity is more terrible than the heat. We have one weather extrem after the next this year. First more than alot snow, a long and a strong winter. Then high water and now the heat. The climatic change goes on.

As a lover of Bananas, I hope for a good Banana harvest for you. Did you know that dark green, unripened bananas, steeped (soaked) in hot water for 15 minutes, to facilitate removing the skin, can be boiled and give you the best potato (though bananas are fruit, and much healthier) you have ever eaten. If you happen to like dried salted boneless Cod, boil that codfish and drain and wash a few time, to get rid of the salt, slice up some Garlic paper thin (How much Garlic, is there ever too much?), and some onions. In a non-stick frying pan, heat up the Olive Oil, but not too hot as it does not need to be too hot, melt the garlic add the onions, then add the washed codfish, then the bananas (which have been boiled till a fork just slides through them). Heat it all up and serve in a bowl and enjoy. :)

Can you demonstrate that in SketchUp ????

I would like to know the tolerances of a frying pan to a cod, in reference to the bi-lateral external application of aqueous sedimentary rudiments, when applied to the linear application of score lines along a 'banana' shaped forked appendage.....

If so, would that be exportable to GIMP ???????? idea1

There is something fishy going on here .............. :rolleyes:sign1

Here on Long Island, we have the Cradle of Aviation museum, and as part of their collection, they have the very last production LEM. I was there last year, and I must say, seeing it in person was an unforgetable experience. You first walk through a replica of the Grumman shop that has the prototype LM with the round hatch and no outer skin, and then you go through another door into a very dark lunar landscape.....and there it is, it's such a beautiful sight to see that everyone becomes silent. I'm not ashamed to say I got pretty emotional, being a son of a devoted 'Grumman-ite' who worked on it. I tried to take some pics but my camera wasn't up to the challenge, or I would share them here. It's great to see this model being done this way, I look forward to seeing more, however long it takes you.

Helo,
I went to Speyer, Germany, to the museum. There, the Buran is shown and a collection of space suits and flown parts. They also show there a Lunar Module. Unfortunately, a dummy out of a movie. My problem is not solved.
Does anyone have detailed pictures of the latches of the landing legs?

Thank you

Michael

Ascent Stage is going to be the most difficult part to design on your own. As you know already, you should measure and calculate again and again all the way of construction process; good luck and best wishes for you.
