Building Kratos (God of War), by Beinan

Smile to me, baby...

Howdy!

Lil' old stupid ME forgot to submit the last post, and both the message and the pics were lost. Well, what're you gonna do? Age is a... you know what age is and does.
So, let's make a small update on this thread, shall we? I have almost finished the head and made a little mistake in the mouth, but I don't think it's a big deal, so I'll leave it as it is. The pics show an acceptable work, and not using tabs in a complex model that has already been downscaled makes it even more difficult. But "difficult is not impossible", as I always tell my kids. So, I've got to set the example...
Here are the pics. I'll be making the eyes after this.
You have probably noticed that the head is a bit distorted. That's because a piece that connects the chin and back of the head to the neck hasn't been glued yet.

Open windows...

Hey

As the title says, many of us know a saying that goes like this (translated from Brazilian Portuguese): the eyes are the windows of the soul.
I'd like to show how cool is Beinan's Kratos: he did eyeballs to it! And when you glue them in their right places, it really gives the eye a natural, 3D look. Amazing!
Well, when you downscale it, the pieces get too small. I lost one of the pupils and had to make another, so the eyes didn't get exactly alike, but it's good enough, IMHO. Take a look at the pics:

That's more like it...

Hello

Adding the beard made the head look less distorted. Now it's beginning to look cool, pardon my lack of modesty.
You'll see the head and another piece in the pics below. That's the one that connects the chin and back of the head to the neck. There's a reason for that: I haven't been folding the model on the lines, but glueing the pieces to their edges, in order to make it look "rounder", and not so geometric. It also makes it a bit harder, IMHO.
Take a look.

Thanks for visiting! Well, it's not so good, but it's good enough to make a rather good gift for a friend. He doesn't even think it's for him... He'll never see it coming! :thumb:
But now, after finishing the head, I think things will go much easier from now on. Check from time to time, please!

You could sell those heads. Everyone appreciates a little head now and then. :)

You now, the thought really came to my mind, but I only intend to build small paperheads of my kinds and texturize them with their photos, so they can serve as 3D table portraits of them. It's not an original idea, but I think it'll be cool enough.
All the best,

Rogério

Way over his head...

Hello,

It's been a while since my last post in this thread, but I don't think we can consider it dead already. I've been into a lot of things, including preparing to move to a new house (which is always a pain...), and haven't had the time to go on with all of my projects.
Anyway, I decided that I will try and find the time for them, since it's one of the few things that make me relax, and have some "me" time (after the kids sleep and the wife allows me to... sign1).
So, I've made a little progress, and would like to share it with you. Please take a look at the pics. As I had thought, after finishing the head, everything else looked easy, even though I'm building this with only the PDO Viewer as a guide.

I have to say that your skills are improving exponentially!
You have done a GREAT job on the head.
I know that I do not have to tell you just how difficult heads (like this) truly are.
If this is any kind of indication of how the rest of the model will turn out, then you are going to have an AMAZING looking model when you are finished.
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORKK!

Rogerio, you have done a fantastic job on that head. VERY WELL DONE!!:thumb::thumb:

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build come together.
I think you are going to have something to be proud of when it is done :thumb:

Thanks, RB, I'll try my best. The model is really cool!

I do hope so, Dan! This model will, as I've written before, serve as a gift for a friend. He doesn't even suspect of that, and I want to make a good surprise for him, he deserves it.

Well, Kratos is a real bad warrior, he's SUPPOSED to make you feel creepy...   :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

The creepier the better! It is looking phenominal, Rogerio. I know how difficult it is to make a head. It is a joy to see the model come together.

No burden on my shoulders...

Hi,

The shoulders are beginning to come together. You can see by the pics that Kratos's head is twisted to his left, and the neck shows it in a very "humanly" way. What a great design this model has! :thumb: :thumb:
BTW, I have changed the glue I was using... idea1
I was using styrofoam glue (PVA + alcohol), but now I've found out a glue that's specific for paper craftmanship and/or photographic paper. It's basically the same (PVA + alcohol), but it's a lot less of a mess, and it's faster and more resistant to "paper torque". NICE! :thumb:
Here are the pics.

Everyone appreciates a little head now and then. :)

Z As a good friend of mine, who happens to be a mechanic once said, " Injection is nice, but I'd rather be Blown"

And Rogerio my friend, this build looks fantastic too...
