Progressing forward

I know that some of you are thinking that I am going a little fast on this build, but in all actuality, I am just in "BUILD MODE", and really all I want to do is just build.
This model is going together better than what I have (previously) anticipated. I am hoping that it will continue this way all throughout the build (knock on wood).

Hey, that's looking good! The "build mode" suits you :thumb: .

Well, I have finished the next installment and have added some additional frame pieces to increase the 3D effect. I have laminated parts 40 and 43 to another layer of paper, too.

I too am surprised that assembly is really easy. Well, at least till parts 155, 169 and 207 are coming!

Thank you! :thumb:

Last update for tonight: I have successfully assembled and attached the gun radiator baffles thingies (if anyone knows the correct designation, please tell me  ).

Basic assembly is very easy, the parts are simply laminated onto each other. Then a half tube (parts 65 / 77) is attached. Take care that the half tube fits as indicated on part 57 and its counterpart; I had to cut off a tiny bit because they were slightly too long. Attach the box covers 66 & 67 (78 & 79) and then add the top cover 56 (68 ). Use the white markings for alignment.

Inserting the assembled parts was somewhat tricky: I don't know if this was caused by the upscaling or the paper but I had to widen the "trench" a bit by cutting something off from the upper portion of the rib formers and pulling the already attached elements a bit higher. Use the white markings on parts 9 & 10 for alignment.

Man, both of you build faster than I can cut out pieces. And both builds are looking FanTabulous.

A new dawn, a fresh look: Everything has dried completely and looks as mechanical as possible. HOWEVER, I ended up with an overlap of the cover parts of about 1 mm. I studied the WIP pics and tips of the master again and felt that this overlap was a bit too much. So I cut it shorter carefully. The attachments show the difference before and after the cuts. Attaching the outer hull parts will show if another tweaking of these areas is necessary.

I will be receiving my printed sheets tonight!! YIPPEEE!!
So, I will be joining in the fray over the next day or two.

BTW: As I am English born, but living in the Netherlands, I thought I would add the two respective flags to reflect this.

So, you will be getting a multi-national build from me!!!!!.

See you all soon.

Progress report

Here is a progress report on my build.
As you can see, it is going quite well. everything is very straightforward.

Here are the parts for the gun radiator baffles.

I assembled the gun radiator baffles.

The gun radiator baffles are installed.
("NOTE", it is a tight fit in the channel for it. So you may have to use a little persuasion to get it to go into place.)

The Dunglish First Installment

(Dunglish - A Barstardisation of Dutch and English! )

I have my prints.

002.jpg

I printed everything on 160gsm card stock, which is the VERY close equivalent to UHU02's suggested paper thickness of 0.22mm.
I also printed page 1 on 200gsm stock, just to give the formers and framing a touch more rigidity. I hope this doesn't cause me any fit problems later in the build. We'll see........

And now to make you gape in astonishment...... I cut all the parts to be laminated on page 1 into separate halves ......

006.jpg

But, using my own design light/cutting/scoring table, I aligned all the parts when gluing by looking through the card and lining up the print exactly. Bearing in mind you are looking through 2 sheets of 200 gsm card, I think my table works well...:cool:)

010.jpg

I salved a spare part from a printer maintenance kit from work, that was going to be thrown away, a few years ago. This is a rubber lined feed roller of about 8cm diameter which I use all the time when laminating card, to really get the card squashed together.
Once I had done this, the 3 laminated sections went into a book and are now being left weighted over night.

015.jpg

I'll be back tomorrow or so with some furtherness! (I love making new words ....sign1)

Finally the Dunglish division is sending out reinforcements to repel the overpowering Cylon fleet.:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Hello, Dan! Nice to see your first WIP pics!

I find it very interesting to see how one model is tackled in different ways. Your laminating process for example is astounding. You are using 200 g card for the formers? That might be a bit risky, but we'll see.

Today I have completed my nose section (well, not "my" nose, you know what I mean, just look at the pics! ).
