Gun turrets

Here are eight (of the forty) Gun Turrets that will be going on this ship.
The turret is eight sheets of (180gsm) card stock laminated together to get the desired shape.

Here are all eight on a scale cube to show the actual size (the scale cube is 5cm X 5cm).

just a quick question, are you building up the ribs and making the armor plating to add detail or do the plans include them?

Well my friend, I thought that you would like it. :thumb: It was your build that inspired me to make the Galactica in the first place. After watching "Blood & Chrome" (as well as talking with Revell-Fan), I decided to go all the way and make this one to test (and improve) my skills.
If you are wanting to build one for yourself, by all means go ahead and use this thread as your guide. (That goes for anyone else reading this thread).

The model does come with some gun turrets but the ribs, armor hull plating, gun turret placements, as well as the rest of the greebles, I am adding myself.
As far as I know (and I could be wrong), there is no model (paper or plastic) of the "BLOOD & CHROME" version of the Galactica. So (for now), this will be the only B&C Galactica that is being built (thus far). Like I said, I am taking a bit of creative artistic licensing while building it.

ENJOY!!!

Here is an Update on my progress.
As you can see, I am adding even more Armor Hull Plating on it.
Reason for being, is that I am making the BIG "G" from BSG Blood & Chrome.
(Yes, I am taking some artistic licensing with the Armor Hull Plating and how it is arranged.)

Ahh, that Cat is out of the Box. Not you run of the mill Battlestar! I didn't tell a soul. :)

With adding all of the armor, I would have had to announce it sooner or later. I figured it would be better to just get it over with now.

I finished the top part of the Bridge Section.
I added some detail to the back end by just raising the printed texture.

Here is the middle part of the Bridge Section.
I know that I added a couple of photos that I posted earlier, but I thought that doing so would help with the flow of the thread.

IMAG2439.jpg

I added the ribs for the armor hull plating.

That is definitely correct! :thumb: There is only one fan-build in progress which I know of but your build is more advanced. UNFORTUNATELY there are only three scenes in the show where you can see (only portions of) the armoured Galactica and there is absolutely NO other reference material available at this time. The old lady is fourty years old, so it is quite possible that her armour was changed from time to time. Your interpretation may show her how she might have looked in a certain period of time as the Cylon War progressed, so don't be afraid to greeble the heck out of her!

The turrets look fantastic! :thumb:

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. I am planning to cram as much detail as I can put into this model. I really want this model to set the standard that ALL OTHERS are measured against. I know that that is a VERY HIGH AMBITION, but I am going to give it my best.

As for the turrets, I have 32 more to build.hamrhamrhamr

It is indeed quite a bit of repetitive work, but I intend to make them as I need them. That way it will not seem so bloody tedious.

Have you ever considered making a mold out of two part "Steel Epoxy", then banging these suckers out in a half hour or so? You have the perseverance and patience of a Shaman. :)
