Hi to all,
Have like so many others found this forum by doing some research on a particular model and in a roundabout way ended up here. The quality of what I am seeing is outstanding and I am now starting to re think what I knew about paper models. Ihave been a traditional plastic and resin modeller for many years and as with most things in life had to place things on hold while the family grew up. Now that I have retired I am getting back into the modelling seat once again.Starting a few small project to get back into the swing and trying to master computers and forums present their own challenges, still, hoping to get there in the end. So I think I will take some time now and start my first paper modeland see how things go.

Welcome Aboard :thumb:
Zealot is a great community full of modelers of all sorts... Post plenty of pictures of your works and try not to post in dead threads and you'll get along fine :p

But seriously it's nice to have you here and I look forward to seeing your progress.

Welcome to the club!

Your story matches the "biographies" of many of us here, myself included. The quality of the works here is beyond belief, but you'll find one thing even better: the ambience.
Everybody here wants you to succeed, and will do everything they can to help you. The only things that you will be asked in return is to:
1 - obey the rules;
2 - get involved, ask and share; and (last, but not least)
3 - HAVE FUN!!!

Keep in mind that ZEALOT is special because WE make it so.
Once, again, welcome!

Hello and welcome to the forum.
We have many members who are into plastic and resin that have also ventured into the wonderful world of paper modeling. some of the techniques are transferable. So you really should not have a problem with starting out.
Is there a particular genre that you are interested in, or models that you are looking for?

If you have any models that you have already built, please post photos.
When you start a build, be sure to start a build thread. It is a GREAT way to show off your skills and techniques, as well as show where you are having problems with a certain model and you need help with.

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, need help or advice. Please feel free to ask, and we will do what we can to help you (or at least point you in the right direction).

Once again, welcome aboard and I am looking forward to seeing your work.

Let us know what you like so we can steer you in the right direction. We deal primarily with the FREE models off of the net and know of many places where you can get them legitimately! Welcome aboard. :)

Thanks to all for your encouragement. Given the level andquality I see here I feel a little intimidated but willing to give it a go.Never imagined that paper could look so good. Have just secured my first modeland will start it soon. Will post some pics and hopefully get some advice andpointers along the way. I only which I had a forum like this when I firststarted modelling some 40 odd years ago.

If I had a nickle...

(...) Given the level and quality I see here I feel a little intimidated but willing to give it a go. (...)
Oh, man, don't you ever write that again! Intimidated? We all are here to support each other, even with constructive criticism. Coming back to the "intimidation" issue, if that would be the case, then no one here but the Grand Masters would post pics of their works, and we would only limit ourselves to bow in awe and admiration...
I'm happy that you're willing to give it a go. Post a building thread and ask for suggestions, orientation, guidance, you name it, people will respond to your needs. But pretty please, DO NOT feel intimidated.
Yes, there are fantastic models here, in every "field" you can imagine, but when one of the big guys posts a "well done" message in one of your (future) building threads and treats you like an equal, then you'll know: you're in ZEALOT !!!, and ZEALOT is special because WE make it so!
