Hello again,

Since the untimly demise of my Saab Draken build yesterday I have moved RocketmanTan's New TARDIS model to the front of the list.

It prints on 4 sheets of 110# paper, I think the master is for A4 size because my 8 1/2 X 11 "Letter" size paper has the copyright info chopped off at the bottom of the pages.

For those who aren't Whovians, this is the "default" exterior of a TARDIS before it leaves Gallifrey, as seen in the the season ending episode "The Name of the Doctor", before the Doctor steals it and he goes to 1960's England and it takes on the "Blue Box" of a Police Box.

It should be a quick build as the model is only 7 pieces including the base. It looks to be about 1/18th or so, roughly twice the size of my MMI Resin TARDIS in 1/32nd.

Updates to follow.

Huh, that's strange...I design all my models for letter-size paper (maybe I should switch to A4, actually, considering a lot of the people who build my stuff are from Europe...)

Have you checked the print settings? Or if it's an actual mistake I made, I'll fix it asap.

Should be anywhere between 2.75 ~ 3"

Ok well mine printed out with the top and bottom circles at ~3.02 inches as measured with a set of digital calipers.

AnyWho, it's cut out now, here is a pic of the pieces

And Viola

all done.

I need lots of practice rolling partial tubes...
for me it would have been easier without the recessed door.

and I couldn't get the color right to edge paint with.

Yeah, rolling tubes and cylinders is a bain in many paper modellers lives, mine included! But, you are right, practice makes perfect.

Micah, what are you using to edge colour ?

I will say this though, my experience with this model has given me and Idea to try and scratch build a plastic one in scale with my MMI resin police Box Tardis.

That's something I'd like to see, although I still preffer paper...

I'm a plumber by trade now so some PVC pipe for the body, sheet styrene for the top and bottom, still thinking about the door though,

All you'd need is some pvc pipe with the same outside diameter as the larger one's inside diameter. Lacking that you could always take the door piece that was cut out and reshape it with either a heat gun (not too easy with this size piece) or heat in the oven, then reshape using some spare pvc pipe cut in two lengthwise.

I'm thinking 1 1/2 inch sink tubing as I can get a slip section that is slightly over 1.5 inches and true 1 1/2 will "slip" inside it
