Well, Thanks to the amazing design skill and generosity of Revell-Fan I have a 1:18 scale Crichton to build. That build would have started today (Warning, rant to follow) except, I had to fight with a $#!^^&@ HP Printer for four hours! Four hours that I could have been scoring, cutting, folding, gluing, photoing, but NO, HP has such a lousy product that it wouldn't even print connected via USB. Last HP print I will ever buy.

Sorry for that, anyway. I'm looking forward to building this excellent design!

Searcher bridge console

I thought it would be good to give Crichton something to play with. So I made the Searcher bridge console. There are two on the bridge but I think one will suffice since it is a really big one.

Crichton 2.0

Welcome back to Crichton - 2.0!

After the first successful test build I went to my local bookstore and bought some silver metallic cardboard. It came pre-cut in A4 format and looked almost exactly like the real Crichton. Since I had never ever worked with coated card I tested the whole procedure on one sheet first. It went through my (HP inkjet! :twisted: ) printer without problems. However, due to the coat the ink needed some time to dry. The first pic shows the printed page right after printing. The next pics show the page after one hour. Still not completely dry and easily smudged.

I let the page dry for a day - and was happily surprised. The contours of the parts stayed on the page - unless you rubbed them off. So I used a glove for protection when I cut out the parts. I covered only some fingers to prevent my whole hand from sweating.

I am glad that you were able to get metallic cardstock.
That smudge does not look good at all.
It looks like you would have to print everything out and wait until the next day to build.
Wearing a glove is a good idea for such.
I am really looking forward to seeing how this will turn out.

Some of the lines were difficult to see. I cut in the edges of the parts and used these marks for aligning the ruler.

Yes RB, that is correct. I printed all pages and let them dry for at least a day. It is a bit more work and slower, but it is a rewarding procedure.
