Here is my next project. I am test building the "IMPALA" spaceship designed by Thunderchild.
Here are the photos of my progress for your viewing pleasure.

I am starting with the formers first.

IMAG1970.jpg

I noticed that part 8 could not attach to part 1 do to the position of the center slot.
IMAG1971.jpg

I inverted the position of the slot.
IMAG1972.jpg

Parts 8, 11R, & 11L are attached in place.
IMAG1973.jpg

IMAG1974.jpg

The formers for the main body are all together.

Corrected parts have been sent to Thunderchild.

Nice. I was lucky enough to also receive this as a early xmas present, but I have not had time to start it. I feel bad that I have not since I was bugging TC for it.

At least you started it. Looking forward seeing it completed.

Oh and....

Great model once again by TC.

Count me on on this one! :)

This looks very interesting. I found a good link for those who are not familiar with Interster:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interster

It's a pity that the show wasn't broadcast here in Germany, we only had Thunderbirds and Stingray (and Team America, hehehe! ). There seem to be several episodes on youtube and according to wikipedia the show is available on DVD.

I was lucky enough to be one of the few who grew up with Interster since I am afrikaans speaking.

If you guys can't find it on the net, I have the dvd and could upload a episode. Keep in mind that the language is afrikaans.

Any chance to get subtitles in English, French, Spanish or even Italian? Just asking...

A fine start RB, thanks for testing this. Already a few issues noted and corrected.
Sadly there are no subtitles available. This show was only broadcast in SA.

For those who are curious about the final look of the ship, it's something like this:

Frankly I misjudged the amount of interest my original build would get. It was never intended for public release, but Blaar and others convinced me, so I revisited the model and got it ready. Obviously a lot of creative licensing went into it since I only had low quality screengrabs from the dvd's to work with.

TC

If you've done that much with "low quality screengrabs from the dvd's", I can't even begin to imagine what would you do if you had all the resources made available!:thumb::thumb::cool:
Beautiful, man!

Wow TC! Thanks for posting the pictures. I watched the first episode on youtube but couldn't quite see how the Impala looks like. This plane really looks great!

Looking good RB.

I grew up with this program too, during my 27 year residence in South Africa. Fond memories.

You asked for more, then here you go, here are more photos of my progress.

Here is the under-section.

Landing gear bay.

Landing gear bays attached.
IMAG1997.jpg

Under-section assembled.
IMAG1998.jpg

IMAG1999.jpg

Upper body and lower body assembled (with formers inside).
The upper body was a bit tricky to attach (just because it was a bit difficult to get a good hold on the areas that needed pressure for the glue to dry and cure).

IMAG2002.jpg

I laminated the wheel halves on regular cardstock.
IMAG2003.jpg

Wheel halves assembled. I will also laminate the wheels to add more detail.

Even though the kit does come with extra detail, I have decided to raise the bar of the detail and make it more prominent.

Here are close-up shots of the detail.

More photos coming soon.

ENJOY!!!
