Building: U.S.S. Wanderer Class

IT'S DONE !!!!!!

Yeah !!

Finally I got the nacelles the way I wanted them.
The USS Wanderer is finished.

MY FIRST COMPLETED PAPER MODEL :!::lol:

It was quite a task, especially for me as a beginner.
The ship needed a lot of tweaking and modding and most of it "on the fly".

I'm pleased with the result, there still could be some improvements here and there but overall I'm happy with it.

There's nothing else to say about it realy, here are the pictures:

Let me be one of the first to say:

CONGRATULATIONS! Not only it's your first model, but you did a superb work, specially with all the obstacles you had to overwhelm!
I'm very happy for you, Elko! YEAH!

CONGRATULATIONS on your first build. It seems like it was a baptism be fire (please excuse the pun).
All things considered, you did a FANTASTIC JOB!!!

I have to say that it is a rather interesting design.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

I am looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Sensational! I'm glad that you have solved the problems. It's a really neat ship and your build is great. Keep it up!:thumb::thumb::thumb:

Thanks guys

I'm pretty happy with it, in real it looks "cleaner" then in the pictures though.
The longer I look at the finished model the more content I am with it.

This build did give me quite a bit of confidence for my next build.
The ISD II is more formed of flat surfaces instead of all the curves of the Wanderer and the ISD won't need any or hardly any tweaking, the unfold looks so much cleaner, the allignments are spot on, I measured them in Paint Shop Pro.

I have to say that it is a rather interesting design.

I agree it's a bit of an onorthodox shape especially the struts that hold the nacelles. I liked the design from the start though that's why I choose this particular ship in the Star Trek genre.

It shouldn't be to long untill I start the new build-thread for the ISD.

Cheers and thanks for the compliments :)

A bit late for my congratulations, Elko, but well done on a very successful first build. You have done a stirling job and the model looks clean and tidy.

A pity, in a way, that you had to struggle, but you percervered and overcame your problems, and the end result speaks for itself.
I think you have learnt a great deal from this experience and are now starting to get the feel of things, and I am sure your next build will go smoother and will turn out as good, or if not, better. :thumb:

Once more, WELL DONE!!!!:thumb::thumb:

Great job Elko!!! She turned out fantastic, glad you stayed with it till the end. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much guys for the compliments.

They realy motivate me to try even harder on my next model.

Huh, my brother came by and saw the model, "a lot different then just folding an airplane", now that's a real compliment comming from him :)
He's awesome with wood and even build his own ellectric guitar, he's a lefty and bought a righ handed guitar, he then mirrored the entire guitar and made it from scratch so he knows craftmanship when he sees it.

He was realy impressed when I showed him some of the models made here on the forum and could hardly believe they were made of paper.

I don't look up to him, I'm better in other things and we help eachother in those things we're not so good at. It's just very nice and motivating to get complimented on something you put effort into.

The ISD is almost ready for printing, just a couple small personal tweaks to do. It's juts begging for a lot of greebling and I'm going to try to make it as detailed as I possibly can.
The ISD is probably going to take much longer to build but I want it to become just right.

As soon as I start the actual build I will start a new build-thread.

Again, thank you guys for the kind words.

Cheers and all the best,
Elko

Now that's MOST IMPRESSIVE! :thumb: Have you shown him this place? Maybe he is interested in becoming a member.

Yeah I showed him sever models here on the forum and he was very impressed to say the least.
He's not the type to post in a forum though, he builds things, the only website he realy uses on a pc is Google when he wants to find something out :)
I can ask but he'll just say what he always says, computers are for dumb people, I use my head sign1
