Large scale Imperial Warships

I found all the models I thought I'd lost in an old external drive! :D

Anyway, I've begun working on the Nebulon-B, and it's going pretty good.

EDIT: Also, I'm doing three scales. 1:2700, 1:350, and 1:270 for the X-wing Miniatures Game. :D

Huray a Nebulon-B !!!!! :thumb:
I love that ship and have seen a model of it in a modelstore, it was big !!!
It was a custom made model but the ship is so nice with all the detail and stuff.
I'm glad that you're also making a smaller scale, 1:350 or 1:270 would fill up my hobbyroom pretty fast :)

I'm very anctious to see the results.

And as you allready know I'm very happy with the models you found back and send to me

Cheers and all the best,
Elko

PS
I'm tweaking the ISD-II sheets a bit to personal prefference, here's a shot from the rear-end so far (the picture is scaled down quite a bit so it's not as crisp as the original).
There's not much tweaking needed though, the model is allready very very detailed. The extra detailing is more for the extra sheets that I'm gonna print for greebling.

Wow! I love that mod! Do you think you could upload the modified sheets to the downloads section? I've got this model under construction, but I'd love to revamp the engine area to look more like the ISD-II.

I can e-mail them to you first when they're ready, than you can do what you like with them. I converted them to JPG files though and the size of the sheets in mb's is considerable compared to the size of the pdo file, this to get a high resolution for printing.
I also altered the color and contrasts a bit to my personal preference and to let the extra detail jump out a bit. Uploading just one modded sheet wouldn't do much good I think because of the difference in color and contrast compared to the originals.

When I got some sheets ready I'll mail an example, if you like it I can send the rest, when they are ready though, which can take a while, my health is taking the better part of me at the moment (just something I have to live with now and then).

Cheers,
Elko

PS.
Your ISD model rocks :mrgreen::thumb:

hello I wanted to compliment you for your models. they really looks great!
just one question, Have you considered whether to make also the alliance "big"ships?the homeone or the mc80 starcruiser?to have them side by side whit the star destroyer would be great

Oh yes, Executor is definitely on the list, albeit at a much smaller scale. I'm thinking about making it 1:20,000, which would make it 34.6in/88cm long, and also a set of five accompanying Imperial-II Star Destroyers at 3.14in/8cm in length in order to do a "Death Squadron" display. I might even include a name plaque and set of stands to accompany them.

The model I'll be using is this one:

Yeah, it's a beast. And insanely complex.

But I'm game to give it a shot.

The one that Sprintx used from the original X-wing Alliance game is okay, but it looks really awful compared to the real thing. This one should satisfy all those Executor fans out there. :D

First, thanks! But you should really thank the guys at the X-wing Alliance Upgrade Project. They are great modelers and equally great texture artists, and it's their hard work that makes any of this possible. :) I feel a little guilty for not mentioning this throughout the thread; I really love what they're doing for that old game (one of my all-time favorite Star Wars games), and I feel like I shouldn't be getting all the credit here.

I'm definitely doing the Rebel ships starting with Home One after I finish the Imperial capital ships. I just want to finish the most-wanted fleet first, then finish up with their opponents so people can do a "versus" diorama if they want.

*(Yeah, I've caught the Pony bug. In my defense, it's a pretty contagious one. sign1)

EDIT: Oops, I forgot to put up a pic of the development of this model:

Okay, the Nebulon-B is finished!

Word of warning, this model has some really, REALLY tiny parts. I'd say don't build it unless you really, positively, can't-do-without need one in scale with the Star Destroyers. I'll be rescaling it to 1:1000, 1:350 and 1:270 later today.

Anyway, here's the 1:2700 scale version (4.37in/11.1cm):

I'll be uploading it as soon as I create a tag and a PDF. :thumb:

I recently had to load this old game on my Windows 7 partition on my mac (game doesn't like 64bit) and dust off the old Thrustmaster joystick, just to fly by this beast. The detail is incredible and it is so much larger than anything in Freespace 2. I hate to say, but anything less than 3,' the parts might be too small. But hey, I like big models.

Huray the Nebulon B !!!! :thumb:

Fantastic job !!

I'm gonna wait for the 1:1000 one though 11cm is quite small.
Never realised Nebulons were that small compared to an ISD.

Lots of greebling possibilities on this one, but first I'm gonna start the ISD-II.

Great work man, and a dream come true.

Cheers and all the best,
Elko

I completely approve of this project. Fantastic game too.

I was fortunate enough to get to the "Art of Star Wars" museum exhibition in Edinburgh a few years back. All the major props, mattes, costumes, etc.

By far and away the best thing there was The Executor. It was massive, and so amazingly detailed. So detailed you couldn't really comprehend it - it made you dizzy to scan over it trying to take it in.

11cm is a little over 4 inches .....hummmm, with that skinny neck you might want to get a small dowl rod or a straightened paper clip for reinforcment inside. (just putting in my 2 cents worth)

Nice looking models :)

Did you see the man in the Executor?

So.... Who is up for a bit of layering..... ???????

kg-ssd-executor-reference-028.jpg

I have an old piece of tree-log in my garden that looks a bit like that (without the engines), if I could carve the right part out, paint it and put a thick layer of varnish on it, then I could use that instead, it would even look good too........after a bottle of Single Malt

Man am I glad I'm starting with the ISD. It would take ages to make that with paper

Just downloaded all three Nebulons and had a good look at them in pepakura viewer.

They are beauties, all of them !! :thumb:

Great job, and I am surely gonna build at least one them, the 1:1000.
This is so fantastic, I haven't seen most of these models in any store here in Holland ever, and now they're freely available here !!

Many thanks Tyler, many people will be very happy with these great models, I'm one of them !!

Cheers,
Elko

Wow . . . who'da thought working on a glorified box would make it hard to find motivation to work on said box? :p

I'm pretty close to being done with the Escort Carrier. I just need to figure out where all the teeny, tiny pieces on the nose and the antennas should go on their respective pages.
