Sikorsky X-Wing Prototype

This is based on the artists conception at the time of an X-Wing Craft. There were plans to turn a lot of aircraft into X-Wings

The fuselage in you render reminds me A LOT of Sangers' Silverbird "Amerika Bomber"
With some modification,it would be a jumping off point for this Rotor craft.

I worked m this. It had absolutely nothing to do with the "Amerika" bomber. This helo had the stiffest blades ever produced on any airplane, jet or helicopter. A friend of mine made them. This helicopter used he Coanda effect and pumped high pressure gasses out of the leading edges of the rotor on the leading edges of the blades when stopped and locked. It in effect created an air foil out compressed air that was manipulable. There was nothing like it. Once the rotor stopped spinning thing would have set speed records and be able to perform, feats no other aircraft was capable.. It also came with Dolby 7.1 surround sound!

The helmet integrated into the aircraft is something I won't even touch on. Let's just say, these picture, being out there means I can make a model of it but I said all I am going to say and there will someday be another version of it.

This looks like it will make for a very interesting model and a very fun build.
I know that (due to security purpose) you can not make the same cockpit as the real one, but are you going to but a cockpit in it?
I am looking forwar to seeing how this turns out.

Yeah, the cockpit looks wide open as their are side pieces not in there, but the glass itself was pretty conventional. This was an artist conception. The RSRA is the craft that achieved or didn't achieve full X-Wing transition. It was never announced. Personally, I believe they did, but it had some technical problems, but I think the quick way that the program went away, and the continued building of parts mean that further work moved to the Skunk Work/NASA. Who knows. It was a technology demonstrator. I'd like to try to do an RSRA as it is one of the least known, talked about aircraft in my experience. This aircraft flew quite well if the rotor had to be ejected. There were various ways that could be done, but it would fly back as a conventional jet aircraft, with some really sweaty pilots! :)

Its nice to see some X-wings! as most of the aircraft we see on here seem to be Thai fighters...paper planes :)

I'm pretty good at jokes but I don't get this one. Could someone please, sincerely, explain it. :)

Oh, then I get it.Ha ha. I can't tell any of the jokes I like publicly, anywhere.

Do you guys find this aircraft/helicopter interesting enough so that I should continue it?

I think "Thai Fighter" could be a reference to a model by Nobi, too.

And to answer your last question, Yes.

Funny, I was working secretly on the "X-Wing" and I heard the term used all the time. A strange reality.

Some more Renders. I messed up the exhaust ports but it is coming alone. :)

Do or do not...there is no try!

(Yoda. Smart man. Died of old age. Very sad.)

He said that to his infant Padawans when they were toilet training!

Yoda had his problems too, though considering this infant picture of his, he actually aged rather well!
