Hello!

I have a couple of questions about the Hi-res UHU02 Pod. Hopefully one of you who have built it can give me a hand before I get started on the new Valley Forge:

1.) Parts 11/12 Silver Cylinder - according to the instructions, it looks like this is supposed to go somewhere under the control panel on what would be the pilots right side. Does anyone have a picture of this part installed?

2.) Seat - how does this mount? I don't see any type of post or cylinder, so does this just sit on the floor?

3.) Footwell - It doesn't look like there's any parts to cover the footwell area in front of the pilots seat. Does this area just remain open?

One other question - UHU02 has a number of parts on the the Valley Forge and some of his other models; how are those parts assembled? At first I thought maybe you just have to add your own tabs as you go, but some of the pictures on the website look almost as if the parts are edge glued somehow? I tried doing some google search on tabless paper models, but didn't find much. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.

First, welcome!

Unfortunately I haven't yet built the pod, although it is on my ever increasing build list...

I can say that UHU02's models are definately in the advanced category; and require a variety of techniques, including edge gluing.

When I edge glue, and especially on small parts, I prefer to use cryanoacetate (superglue). It soaks into the paper and can be used to strenghten small parts... and has the benefit of instant bond. You have about 2-3 seconds to position, so you have to work fast. I tend to position the part first, "tack" a corner or edge and then reposition before final gluing.

UHU02 is really good about posting build pics on his blog; browse around and if you have questions, he's always happy to answer questions.

uhu02 -

Thanks! That helps a lot. Let me take this opportunity to offer my sincere thanks for all the models you've shared with the zealot community. You've enabled me (and the others here) to have models that I've always wanted, but either weren't available, or just not within reach of the hobby budget.

I know you must have a lengthy build list already in mind, but I wonder if you've ever given anythought to:

1.) "The Black Hole" - Cygnus. Maybe a simplified version without the filagree cutout? (I don't get to attach links or images quite yet)

2.) Some of the Professor Fate vehicles from "The Great Race"?

In any case, thanks again for the models and the help!

Hello, this model is fantastic!!
I have a question:
I have a madelman 2001 astronaut, aprox 1/10 scale, so will be great doing the pod
What is the scale of this model if printed in A4?
Thanks in advance.

Like this? http://capitanmadelman.blogspot.nl/2010/04/e-v-pod-2001-space-odyssey-madelman.html

The best build of the pod that I have seen is by EATONAD: http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=170933&highlight=uhu02

For pod scaling, see also EATONAD's post here on page 7 & 8 : http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=172205&page=7

This is from a reedition in the late 90s or the 2000s, but the original is from the 70s, my favourite toy in my childhood, now is torn apart, only the backpack, pieces of the helmet, a boot and a hand still remaining.
The reedition is very accurate to the original madelman. I reunited with my madelmans, jajaja, canadian mounted police, eskimo, diver, safary hunter, some soldiers, and of course, 2001 astronaut

The responses were from SPAMMERS that got Banned.

The figure has got to be worth something, Ive never seen or even heard of it or the re-edition before. That is definitely something special. :)

I think that this is educational and see no problem with your auction price demonstration posts. It's good for people to know the prevailing prices and we share this common interests. Es bien. :)
