I caught the Macross fever when I was building Takeuchi's VF-29, so after the ghost I was building, I have to build the VF-25 Messiah too. Actually, a RVF-25 command ship to goes with my Ghosts. The finished model(if it ever finished) will be 1/48 scale, roughly 18"+ in length with no cockpit. I was pushing really hard on the build cause I was hopping to get them done for the up coming Macrossworld Con at Concept Cube in Arcadia CA on Oct 21, just a few blocks from my home. But, it became evidence that I can't meet the goal. I'll be too busy at the office here in TX then to get any days off to go. And the new way of building not really making thing goes faster for me either. That really show how good some Pepakura users are, they makes things looks easy and I couldn't mimic that with Rhino even if my life is depend on it, well, at least not building anywhere as fast.

Anyway, following Takeuchi's VF-29 Pepakura edgy look, I am building the Vf-25F Alto's custom as the base and building add-on/replacement parts to convert to VF-25S Ozma Lee, VF-25G for Michael, and RVF-25 luca's custom - the Ghosts command ship. There are few more versions like the VEF-25S, VF-25VJ and VF-25WA I also would like to build, someday. The rough 3d model at this point is done, next I am going to go over everything again to refine the surface as needed to reduce fold counts, or add to it. After that, I'll be doing the F.A.S.T.PACK and Super Pack for the Messiah.

I have a question for you. When you use PictureFrame, are you making a point to Start Line along, let's say fuselage, the locating the end of the line by holding "Ctrl" on Keyboard and positioning the "End of Line" in right place by positioning in other "Viewports" till you form shape by how you wish it? I imagine that's the only way to do it. I ask because I think I know what you mean by "
I click click click click click click click is what we really HAVE to do......." ! :)

Looks great! :)

I draw lines sometime on Side view, some on Top view, don't really make any different, much. Then I go to Control Points and move the cv up/down/left/right in other view ports like one would do in Maya. At the front fuselage I draw half Polygon, scale to size then move cv up/down. from time to time, I'll Lop or Sweep the lines just to check. Think I redraw every lines at least 10x ~ 15X or more to get where I think it should be.

10 to 15 times! You are way more patient to me. I just hold down the "Ctrl" Key on the Keyboard and adjust the end line in each "Viewport" till I end up where I want to. That way, when I Loft, "Run the Rails", or do the other myriad ways of making a surface, there is minimal adjusting needed, after a while, you can tell before you make the shape, where the problem will be. Just a different way to the same end, typical of Rhino. Only difference is you're light years ahead of me! I think it only feels like 10 or 5 times to you!;)

Very interesting plane. Is this plane used for electronic countermeasures?
I like watching your design threads. It looks like it will be an interesting build once it is done.

The RVF-25 is like E-2 Hawkeye and EA-6B Prowler all in one. The pilot also control 3 Ghost fighter Simon, John and Peter.

And John, I really did redraw just about every lines 10~15x or more, I was never completely happy with how things look. I keep making changes to adjust the surfaces, that's why took me so long to build. In fact, after I posted, I made some more changes on the leg(engine) again, where I made the most revision.

Your work speaks for itself, the fact that you share so kindly speaks volumes. I'd like to get Maya, but my pocket (wife) says NO! She's right, I have no justification. :)

Maya only good for one thing, animation. It do not like to do anything else, specially paper craft.

You animators have the patience of God. I could never sit there, frame by frame, making anything. When I was a kid I used to make primitive cartoons using the edge of every book I could find. Usually plane flying around, or faces smiling,it would take forever it seems to make a 2 second clip, and you needed a very thick book!!

I always wanted to make something like this but it would cost a fortune in time and materials. ;)

The FAST pack wing mounted booster is done. That going to add a lot of weight to the wing area and I'm not sure how to deal with that yet. Still got many more add-on armor pieces to build for the FAST pack system but I am moving a bit slower then I would like...... damn all em video games.
