Dear Micahrogers,

I cut the toothpick and use it as a pitot tube.

Glue the nose part with toothpick and then color them all in black.

It will look nice.

Ok, I used your toothpick method and it worked... more or less. As a plastic modeler I hate visible seams. Anyhoo here is a pic of the results, sorry for the poor quality but it's raining here thanks to Issac.

Looks good! Not sure what type of paper you are using but 110 lb. card stock is great for those models.. :)

Yea ... this was a learning curve at best. printed on the wrong paper, used the wrong water colors, and the ghost of printer scaling reared it's ugly head again, but all in all I enjoyed it and am going to do another.

I think the pictures of this craft in flight really make it look menacing! :)

either way. the plane does look menicing. i always like its double delta layout. it increases manuverability and make it look awsome

This airplane actually lead to the discovery of many aerodynamic properties. Proven by flight, these theories were now fact. It's development is interesting reading. It generated massive amounts of ground effect and could be landed at incredible steep angles. it pushed a huge ball of air in front of it when just above the runway. In it's development, it proved what computer technology of the day could not. :)

I remember now hearing how the Draken's "discoveries" led to the development of WIG craft.

Foundation of performance fighter from Saab.
I wasn't aware of this fantastic plane until recently.

Developed in '50-'60. It was 2 steps ahead of its competitors.
The Draken, literary: Dragon & Kite, which really suited this plane.

Its even succeeded in supersonic which is not its initial goals.
Its double delta allow this plane to goes stable both at high and low speed.

Low budget, low maintenance requirement and low operating cost.

STOL: It use short runway, also can use the highway for landing and take off.

Once landed, it only require 5 minutes for rearm and refuel.

It could climb to 33,000 feet in 2 minutes, 20 seconds.

Draken design concept is still profound in later development of Saab such as Viggen and now Gripen.

wow, i can't get enough out of this thread. so much information from intellagent people .i love the viggen two. the plane was revolutionary in every way.the disigners called it the super sonic biplane due to its large canards that intersept the wing platform, giving it agility, stability, and short take off. and the gripen has all that and a small cross section so it is also stealthy.
