@pathron zero:

Those deathstar tiles are great..i would lilke to have a deathstar wall..

Do you have any papercraft version of it?..
i have looked for them but never found them.

The pilot has his place found in the x wing.
Head is fixed..
i glued the windows in place.

the cockpit hatch will be sealed at monday.

Also at home i'm finnalizing the guns...i forgot to build the back piece of the guns.

after that the guns can be installed on the wings.

I've not had much success either finding the tiles as a papercraft project other than full color 'flat' playmats for miniatures. What might be the easiest method to replicate such would be to sculpt blueboard as a bas-relief, in that fashion you could manage the depth of detail you choose to add.

Just remember that the miniature shops at ILM employed a lot of 'found' objects and widgets to dress out those tiles so let you imagination and creativity run amok for your wall treatment !

This is looking really FANTASTIC!!!
I like the detail that you have been putting into this model.
It is absolutely flawless.

Today i strengthed the guns..
and put a fibre rod into the core of the guns.
As result that they are more straight.

I glued gun 1 and 2 to the wings..but some how the 3 tabs can't hold them up..
Maybe i let them on there one to fast...or i have to build a little extra flap.

Beware, the laser mainly rests on the part W36 (using CA glue might be a good idea), the W37 parts are slightly on the side and help to fix the cannon in a straight line - so it's 4 connection points in total. I'm attaching a pic to to illustrate this. And yes, this really should have been in the instruction sheet in the first place - my fault, it's there now.

And of course - good work! You're approaching the finish line :)

I agree, really excellent work going on! I'm certainly impressed.

But one thing bothers me, or rather intrigues me... that picture collage... it looks fascinating! Can we see more? I take it's your work? Very creative!

hum....
i think i did something stupid.. to glue 2 wings in 1 time..
let's see if it works..

@imcold..
i tried to put the laser as told on your picture..
but it didn't look good..
my own solution was to make some double little flaps..
to hold up the flaps..

Yes the cannons are a little heavy..but not as heavy as the engines...
i'm glad that the engines are close to the fuselage that is better for the mounting point..

I hope the wings don't collapse when they are in battle position...that i'm really scared for.

Today i tried to lift up the x wing..
And the wings stayed down.......

Didn't looked good.
So i have to think for an easy fix......and find him fast.

The 4 wings are installed..

My solution of my weak wings is...when the glue is dry i want to place the
x wing with the nose up.
then open the wings and install 4 metal rods for the upper wings.
the under wings i glue some plastic sheets to strenghten the attaching to the folding mechanic.

You could try those milled brass angle strips that you get in hobby shops as an internal support for the weight. You could slide it up the inside of the wings, and join them in the fuselage, with pivots, so that the wings can be put into the required positions...

I dont know how much damage you would have to do to the existing build to do it thou.....
