Finally, here is the beta build of the BSG Blaster.
I started with the mussel. If this component is any indication of how tedious this model as a whole will be, then it will be a long build. You will need patients with this model. There are a ton of small fiddly parts all through out this model.
THIS MODEL IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS.
Here are the photos for your viewing pleasure

There are 16 of these little triangles that have to be folded and shaped.

More photos

Here are more photos of my progress.

Here I laminated parts M-6 to 2mm card stock (instead of making small thin boxes).

This is a very tedious and time consuming model, but I know that the reward is worth all of the work that I will put into this model.
More photos coming soon.

ENJOY!!!

Handle assembly

I have started on the handle assembly. I have not ran into any problems or issues thus far.

This is the former assembly that goes into the handle. I do have to say that I like it and it makes the handle more sturdy.
IMAG0200.jpg

IMAG0201.jpg

Here is the handle itself. it is pretty straight forward.

This is the easy part.

Main body of the weapon

Here I am starting to get into the main body of the weapon now.
Take your time with this model. There are quite a few parts and some of them can be (and are) very fiddly (especially if you have BIG HANDS like me).

IMAG0212.jpg

Take your time with assembling this part. some of the fold are small and you can rip them easily.

On the spot! Good work, RB! Speaking of "easy parts", wait till you have to tackle the caps..! I'm really looking forward to seeing them assembled by someone else.

Barrel mount & Trigger assembly

I have started on the trigger assembly and going into some of the parts that the barrel will be mounted to. There are a few tricky parts that you may have problems with. Just take your time and follow the directions and the photos and diagrams.

IMAG0230.jpg

This is the mount for the barrel. For such a small part, there are a few curve that you will have to take special care with to get it right. It is a little tricky, so take your time with it.

Progress report

I have made some progress. Here are the photos for your viewing pleasure.
I finished mounting the trigger guard and I am starting on what are called the CAPS.
When working on the CAPS, you will need to pay very close attention to the instructions, if you do not you will frak it up and then you will have to start all over. Also take your time with this component, it can be a bit tricky with the way thing are folded and where and how they are placed.
Trigger guard mounted it in place.
IMAG0245.jpg

IMAG0246.jpg

These parts are the tricky ones. So like I said, take your time and pay attention to the instructions when workinf with these.

Sweet! Can't wait to see this one finished. It looks way too complicated for a newbie like me, but I have to just say that it looks excellent. By the way, what thickness of paper is this?

Thank you for the compliment.

As for it being complicated, it is a bit complicated but if you take your time and pay close attention to the instructions, you really should not have any real problems.

I am using 180g/m2 (0.205mm thick) card stock.
