B-17 nose section

It would be cool to see a 5" or 8" diameter nose section, even if it was just up to the pilot's seat, the glass itself would be some hard work, but not undoable. :)

This sounds like a very nice project indeed. The idea of having a side showing the cockpit is brilliant, i guess you would have to use OHP sheets or similar to continue the contour of the fuselage and to prevent dust entering the cockpit. At the scale you are all talking about, the detailing that could be made is mind blowing. Good luck, and i look forward to seeing your progress :thumb:

I was thinking in the 8 to 10 inch range . ON a desk display with one side open to show details and the other covered to show nose art

I agree with Pete, that does sound awesome! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. :)

There’s a beautiful cutaway drawing by Hans Jenssen that shows clearly the inside of the B-17G. Maybe it can help to detail the nose:

That's the best cutaway drawing I've ever seen of the Fortress. Just scroll down a bit.

Actually there are two drawings showing the insides of the B-17. One color exploded cutaway view, and one black and white traditional cutaway.
