I everyone,

So..........my fist thread............

I want to share with you my build of the galactica from the new series. I took the model from Squirrel web site (http://stevespaper.com/) and I will add some details to get it the more "realistic" as possible.

The parts that I did for now is the "top and middle front" of the ship. I will start the "bottom front" in the next few days. This one gonna be really tricky. I try twice in the past and no result.:curse:

For the middle and rear section, I will had son LED lights for inside the landing bays, the "GALACTICA" outside of the landing bays, the engine.....

I think it will be a long project due to the "no mutch" spare time that a got. So be patient.

You can look at Ekuth post who make an incredible model of the classic galactica (http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=155567)

i have an idea, i dont know how well it would work though. saturate the yarn with glue and press it between 2 book lined with wax paper to get the rib look to them once dry you should be able to use a hair dryer to bend them to the shape of the hull.

When I used to build (plastic) model ships, the rigging lines would be dipped in melted wax, then lightly pulled till cooled for nice straight rigging.

aaaaargh!!! someone made a better idea already!!! frak me.

just get myself a little more time then i would build my competing Big G, or P

I Folks,

Thank's for your interest for my model. It's my first time I do this and I think it's great !

So, I completed the front of the ship. I will now attack, after Xmas, the centre with the two bays. I'm just exciting about it. For this part I will ad some LED lights and I think it's gona be great.

Some comments for the structural ribs : I search a lot for the perfect material but I find nothing. I wanted something square, easy to work with and have the perfect size. And one day....."EUREKA !"....I find a bundle of gray wool. It's not perfect but it's ok......

To make the fibre look's more "perfect", I pass on the material with a fire starter (not matches). The flame burn the filaments and the wool will shrink. The ribs look then more smooth and compact.

Warning ! don't pass to close and don't burn yourself. You have just to make small passes at about ½ inch of the piece.

Note: If you wear neckties, you can do the same to eliminate the filaments.

See you after Xmas !

Have a good life

I guys !.................I'm back !

I've just finish the left bay with LED lights. I had some minor difficulties but for the right bay it will be more easier.

Thanks for your comments.
