This has really been an amazing thread. You not only took us through a step by step rocess, but you offered improvements on the model.

"Most impressive...."

Thank you. People seem to enjoy the step by step process, I know I do. I like to know what I am getting into before I start a model.

I believe the word "Epic" is suitable to describe this one! So very cool, bet your proud of it.
Next to my paper Nautilus (the first paper model I ever made), I am most proud of the Rodger Young. I'm still detailing and covering folds and seams. More pics to come.

Were you the member that had intended to design the Seaquest a year or so ago?

I remember the comment, but wasn't certain if it was you or how far you got on it.

Again, quite a ship. Now you just have to build another room in the house to store it!

Nope, not me. I would love to develop the talent to design models.
Detailing is going well. Heres another size reference pic. Gave her a coat of Dullcoat today.

Glass case, heat and motion sensor beams linked to titanium prison bars and knockout gass...

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly! Whatever you do, don't leave it at any level your dog can reach. I have come to the conclusions the reason my dog has eaten so many of my models is because either he is jealous of the attention he did not get, or, he can smell my scent on the models (from my hands), or both. Of course, it could be my dog doesn't like me, or it's really my wife doing it and blaming it on the dog. The dog has been blamed for gaseous anomalies in the past.

Far out! What a beastly model! How are you going to display her?
I built a shelf but haven't found the right wall space yet. I would love to put her in my little bar.....but I would have to drink less.

I like it. My youngest (not the one in the above pic) asked if I would cry if she accidentally broke it. I think I answered truthfully by saying, no.

My son has broken some models I have made. That is just thing compared to your child.'

I built a plastic model of the Cutty Sark about ten years ago, full sail and rigging and it took me over a year to build. It survived a move and a couple of kid opps. I had it on display on a bookshelf behind a family room couch for 2 years with no problems. One day my brother is visiting (while sitting on the couch) and puts his arm around his goddaughter and takes out all three masts, sails and rigging with his arm. I was amazed how little it bothered me. He felt terrible, but I looked at it as more model space. The CS had a viking funeral in our fire pit...it seemed appropriate. I try not to sweat the small stuff.

It took some moving about of other models, but RJ has found her home. I think my paper Nautilus looks better in the Bar.
Thanks Ekuth for designing her. She was a blast to build.:thumb:

Thas is an inspiring build! I'm bookmarking this thread to use as inspiration for my own build of the Roger Young, whenever that happens. :thumb:

Yo, DC, Thanks for the Olli link. For a while it seemed like you had to join his forum to get the passwords for his models. His Yangste River boat just brings back many memories of The Sand Pebbles, with the one and only Steve McQueen! :)

F131, impressive display. Better displaying the ship on a shelf, it would have been a bit boring for your daughter to hold it on the chair for the rest of her life.

I also considered having a go at building this, but I have nowhere to display it at the moment. I could do with a (VERY LARGE) room for just displaying models. I tend to build, then either store away in the loft or give them away. How ever the give away option has now stopped, I found out that a couple of models I give away had been thrown away.

Zathros, is there any way we could have this thread saved as an archive, for reference. I personally think this would be a good idea for certain threads and this thread deserves saving.

Welcome...

For the record, I wasn't contributing to the delinquency of a builder, just offering options! :p

Your wife might be quite unhappy with me finding ways to ADD to your Rodger Young time!

Enjoy,

The DC
