Are you runing XP? If you are, go to the Control Panel and select Add/Remove programs and uninstall everything that says Lexmark. When you go to print something, you computer may ask you wish printer you want to use.

I need a little more info. The O.S., which printers you have model numbers), and do a "Print Screen, open "Paint" and paste the image in there, save it as a jpeg and upload it to here so I can see what you are seeing.

I,m running vista. The printer I need to deleate is a Lexmark x2600.The one I want to install is a Cannon iP2702.In the control panel under printer It says the Lexmark is the defalt printer and it shows the Cannon program as installed on the lexmark. When i try to print anything it does not find any printers installed. If there is a way to uninstall the lexmark.the computer will do all the corecction to insall the cannon.the problem is the computer won,t uninstall the Lexmark.I tryed the uninstall programs.the Lexmaker uninstall program is lost.

This software, I have used for years, will uninstall anything. I suggested you also install AdvancedSystemCare from them. Opt out of installing the "Ask" tool bar and anything else they want to throw in. It does not affect the functionality. I have used this software for over 5 years. It is all absolutely free. You may have to have your printer connected when you do this. Make sure when you reboot your computer, it is not connected. Then install your new computer, only after you have made sure that the old computer software is completely uninstalled.. Make sure that you have no printing jobs in the "Printer Que". You can check this in the Control Panel.

Let me know how you make out. Please. Just so I know. It's nice to the outcome of these things, and if someone else reads the thread, they will have a complete analysis. :)

What do you mean by "left the Printer on the Computer"? Can you post make, model, or computer? I know there is a way out of this. Did you go into program files and delete the Lexmark folder? It is a good thing to do. Then run AdvancedSystemcare.

This program is great for "Unlocking" bits of programs, or Icons that cannot be deleted, because the computer detects them being used. I have used it for years. An excellent program. It is called UnLocker. It will find the locking handle, if it can't Unlock and delete it, it will do so on the next Reboot. It may Unlock it, then you will have to delete it.

It's funny this happened to you. I've got a Lexmark laser printer that I never managed to get connecting after a XP reinstall. Luckily may Canon inkjet and my HP network laser both did.

I would make sure ever printer driver is uninstalled, then try installing it again. I hate to say it, but I've actually reinstalled Windows because of things like this. That's why I keep an image backup of my Windows partition with everything working in it.

I would have asked the tech what he did. It is not uncommon practice for them to tell you, especially if they want return customers. It is good that you have all your set up discs. I have never had to reinstall the OS for that reason, but I bet your machine runs really nice right now. It is amazing how that happens. All the layers of updates are gone and you get a very streamlined machine!! Some people re-install their OS every few moths for that reason. I have had my XP OS loaded now for 6 years without having to touch it, except for cloning it onto a new hard drive, IO. I attribute this to being very very lucky!! Thanks or keeping us updated and with the final solution. Closure is always nice!
