I would love to see more Buck Rogers paper models. There are dozens of Galactica models but ONLY TWO ships from Buck (plus a cubecraft-style Twiki). Fortunately the quality of these ships available is top-notch. :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

It would be great if we could find more fans who would like to enlarge the Buck paper fleet and who could develop models which live up to the TF and the Warhawk.

Some words on the todo-list I mentioned before. This list is just a collection of models I would like to see and which I would turn into a paper model - some day. It would be okay for me if somebody else (maybe Thunderchild ???) picks a model from that list and starts working on that. This way we could speed up the process and could get another Buck papercraft much faster.

So what about making a new thread covering the "BR fleet" (like the "Jay's Galactica is lonely" thread which deals with the BSG fleet)?

P.S.: Since Chrichton is 90 % ready, it would be very nice if you leave him to me. The final model will be about 30 cm / 12" tall and will come with movable limbs and a telescoping head.

I dunno Revell...

Twiki was just cooler. He got all the good lines, and didn't look like a vacuum cleaner.

I too would love to see more models from "Buck Rogers". All of the aforementioned ships would be fun to build.

Interesting note though: The Searcher was rebuilt from the Leariana Queen Cruise Ship, the Vorvon Shuttle was rebuilt from Ardala's Shuttle.

Great job so far on the alterations guys! Cant wait to see some innards.

I've already started gathering refs for Buck's shuttle, the Searcher and one of my faves from the series, the Scorpion fighter. When I'll get around to them is another matter, but you guys have convinced me to bring them closer to the top of the list. :D

That Kryton looks good so far RF! immediately recognizable even without textures!
Twikki will be very difficult to get done right. Personally I'm not a big fan of cubees....

TC, Thank you for the words of encouragement. I am working in the interior for both fighters. It is just taking me longer then I thought.
I am designing everything the "OLD SCHOOL" way (with pencil and ruler. Then once I am finished, I will scan them in to thew computer and cleanup the lines with Corel Draw, and then put the texture on it.)
I am hoping to have them done sooner then later.

Great job so far on the alterations guys! Cant wait to see some innards.

Cockpits interior update

Here is an update of my work on the cockpit interior. I have finished the initial design and build of the two-seater cockpit interior. I just have to scan the parts into the computer, clean them up and add the texture. Once I am finished with this, I will start on the four-seater.
Here are photos for your viewing pleasure.

YOU NAME IT!!!

I thought I invented this nickname for him..!

I chose him because he seemed very easy to build. The next in the line could be Dr Theopolis. Could be a bit difficult to tell the different layers from each other though. Twiki is (still) out of my range, but I am practising..!

Before I got into paper model building I examined the Scorpion very closely in order to scratch-build it. The original filming model was made of two F-14 bodys, the machine gun from a Harrier and the entire nose section including cockpit and missiles from an AH-1W "Super Cobra" helicopter (or some sort of this). The scale of the Super Cobra was twice the scale of the F-14. Its cockpit section fits into the F-14 bodies like a glove. The attached pics are scans of the original package of smaller scale model kits which I purchased some time ago. If you need pics for reference just PM me. And don't forget to visit www.battlebuck.com and www.kesigndesign.com .

Buck's shuttle would be GREAT since it could be used to build
1. Buck's shuttle shortly after takeoff (clean version)
2. Buck's shuttle discovered by the Draconians (dirty version)
3. Buck's smaller shuttles from season 2
4. the Pumpkin shuttle from Battlestar Galactica ("Greetings From Earth").

Great to see that we are not alone!

Recoloured parts for the "Twiki Is Missing" quad. If Martin approves this page will also be contained in the package.

The symbol (tilted rectangle) is troubling me a bit. I have only two screenshots revealing only the upper half of it. Is it okay or does anybody have a good picture of the whole thing?

Paint Scheme

For those of you out there who like the BSG paint scheme for the Thunder fighter, here is another BSG paint scheme that I found while doing research.

starfighter03.jpg

It is not as complex as the the other one that I have posted before, but it too does have its own character.

I am still working on the interiors for both the two-seater and the four-seater. Unfortunatley, a few other things have been getting in my way (like real life. wall1wall1wall1) I was hoping to be done sooner then later.

Oh well, such as life, I guess.

Thats Awesome where can I find this scheme? Also it's a bit funny as the thunderfighter was actually built for BSG but they didn't like it. Things that make us giggle:rolleyes:.

I am sorry, but unfortunately, you will have to recolour the original model itself and using the photo as a guide. That is what I did here: http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168988

If you do recolour it in this paint scheme, I (and I am certain that everyone else) would love to see the build thread.

Good luck with it.

I like the BSG color scheme. Actually I like it better than the original all-white fighter.

Hello, friends!

Don't worry, I am still around. Sorry for the late update but life's been VEEERY busy lately. I'm working hard on the new parts and am building FOUR TFs at the same time (quad, old SF, Mk. 3 beta and David Jones' TF). Despite my experiences with the Gemini (don't build past midnight) I often find myself building past 10 pm (and way past midnight). However, everything (still) looks fine (to my surprise).

I noticed some major proportion and texture issues with the new parts for the old SF which forced me to redesign them. The revised parts look more authentic now and will become the final version.

One of the main disadvantages of creating the mods is that each model requires building its sophisticated framework first. This was very tedious and time-consuming because I had to build the same parts four times (took me a whole week). However everything is set now and I can (finally) focuse on what this thread is all about.

To all who don't know David Jones: As far as I know he made a pre-production sketch of the TF which was apparently used to build the final studio model. This painting is based on Ralph McQuarries early concept design of the Colonial Viper from BSG. The David Jones TF differs from the model you see on screen in many respects such as proportions and panel structure. It was never build as conceived and exists only as a painting (a Mk. "0" so-to-speak). The proportions of some parts are so different from those of Martin's TF model (especially in front of the canopy) that I decided to get (at least) 90 % close to the sketch.

David also made a great concept painting of the Scorpion.

To be continued...

CU!

Wow. I think I may have to build myself a whole squadron when you're all finished. The variants look awesome!
