Hello all

I will be attending a The Empire Strikes Back 30th anniversary banquet/dinner later this year.
I am after paper model armor or weapons for my Costumes.

I may go as Han Solo, Boba Fett or Zuckuss.

I really would love to go as Han Solo in Carbonite.
Don't ask how l can pull that off.

Thank you for your time and help.

Have you tried thedentedhelmet.com
It is another Forum mostly with Boba fett stuff.
Glad if I could help.

Thank you the web link and for your for your help.

I have a number of Boba Fett parts files from Skip (SPC) web site. They are paid models. SPC works are worth every cent.
I have not started to make any of Boba Fetts armor/helmet. I am making a Darth Vader Helmet paper model at the moment.
I may end up going as Han Solo/ and in Carbonite.
I do own a Han Solo ESB costume.
I will have to start working on the Carbonite standing model.
No one else will go as Han in Carbonite.

It sounds/looks easy to design and put together, but hard to walk in.
It is rectangle base with 3d detail on the body and hands/feet and side panels.
I will have a hole for my face (painted metal silver) or mask.
I wll use straps/belt to hold me inside the Carbonite model.
I will leave the bottle open to walk around.
I will have back panel able to open/close with Velcro to get out side of the Carbonite model. I want to sit down for dinner and be able to dance.

The thing will be made out of card board and paper, so it should not be too heavy.

Once l am able to download UHU02 Han Solo blaster, l will make the blaster as part of my costume too.
I always wanted to a Zuckuss costume, but it may have to wait for ESB 40th anniversary.

You know...you might be able to pull the "Carbonite" idea off using foam rubber in a heavy card board frame. You can get big blocks of foam at places like Fields Fabrics. A little spray paint and some siver makeup and you've got it. :thumb:

Great minds think alike.

I have started a blue print/drawing of how l am going to pull this off.
I have worked out the costume model has to be in three parts/sections.
The reason is l have to pack the costume up in the car and store room.
I have worked out a way to join each sections with out it falling apart and make it look like one whole block.

I will post blueprints/drawings in the next few days.

Love the Han in Carbonite idea! I'm getting ready for a fancy dress party in a few weeks time... I'm in the processof finishing the unfold on some Stormtrooper armour designed by the famous 'Dungbeetle' and have to pull my finger out and get building.

If you're looking for 1:1 Star Wars gear, try googling "dungbeetle 3D", this will get you to his blog... he has a free Stormtrooper, Phase 1 Clone (Ep.2) and a Captain Rex from the animated Clone Wars series.

Hello TK3470
You say you have the head and hands done. Is that a Pepakura pdo file?
I am attempting to make a full size HIC costume for an Empire Strikes Back Dinner later this year.
I want to make the costume as much of the out of paper/strong cardboard as possible. The reason is cost and weight too. I will have to be inside the costume to carry it around the dinner event.
I am known as the paper model guy with my Star Wars friends.
I have never used the Pepakura Designer program to design a model before.
I wanted to attempted to make the HIC side panels models.
Once you have made the Pepakura model file l would be grateful in using it as part of my costume.
Thank you for your time.

Hello TK3470

I have attached two better HIC blueprints for you.

Is there any chance of getting the Head and Hand files.

Hunt around for a chap named Nintendude, he's into pepakura in a big way & has files for a lot of things. Usually you'll find him on the 405th, but at the moment the site is down again. Damned hackers.

Thanks for the tip.
I have been on 405th site, plus l do keep an eye out on Nintendude forums.
It has been a while since l had a look at the site.
By your words l should wait a few days before the site is back up and running.
Thanks for your info, and reminder too.

You could do the basic cutouts for the hands, arms and face in a sheet of Cardboard, layed out flat.

To get a shiny finish, plus the wavyness in some parts and possibly coverin the clothes part (dunno how much you plan to expose here) you can use laminating epoxy over top of an old bedshseet thats draped over similar material. The surface of the carbonite isnt completely flat. Looks kinda like bread crust.

The chest and legs could probably be modeled on some cu-in half 2 liter soda bottles possibly backed with the spray foam (great stuff), wearing clothes. The chest might just need to be molded with a thin pillow or something folded like newspaper over a shirt. The laminating epoxy can be poured over that.

no just the body is pepakura I sculpted the head and hands did not want to sculpt the body for weight reason's already rather heavy. I have decided to go with Height 80" Width 29" depth 11"

I uploaded the full body pep with generic head and hands I did not use the head or hands for mine that was just in there for size so this version I never scaled or finsihed the unfold so anyone can scale it to work for there build
