I've always been interested in card modelling - was astounded that such detailed models could be made from paper! I've been doing a lot of plastic modelling...started out with the usual kits, then decided I wanted to have something different so I started doing scratchbuilt conversions. Unfortunately, the resin and photoetch industry emerged and just about everything I converted could be bought in resin. Then I tried complete scratching and resin invaded that domain, too. So now I'm looking for something different, and maybe card models will fill that void. I've no experience in it, but am willing to try anything once.

Hi drop_off, (I'm from Oregon too :)

You and I sound a lot alike (except the photo-etch part) more-so the looking for something different and the 'no experience' part. I can't wait to build something too ---I'm thinking space shuttle...wish me luck. :thumb:

Welcome and hello! (I'm new this month too.) Sounds like you may have come to the right place (just like me!). I'm hoping to get good at card modeling so I can make my own patterns and model designs.

Namaste and welcome. I just joined this month and moved here from Portland on Feb 25, to Pahoa, HI. :)

I, too, have built plastic kits as well as resin. Most of my builds have been sci-fi (my preferred genre.).

I'm also thinking of starting to build Steampunk/Space 1889 (if I can find them).
I look forward to seeing your builds.

Cheers aussie
