This is todays progress , I got a lot of plastering done and the right hand facia up. All the facia is done and the Un-obtainium mine has found a home as well as the mine train. The dry wash area was also plastered and that whole end of the layout is ready for base scenery.

Mike,

The new layout is looking good, the base coat you put on the rocks and the portals give the layout depth and is the start to making it come to life, can't wait to see more of your talent applied to your layout.

Very cool. Great rock and mountain work! Foiliage next? What colors did you use on the rocks? It looks very realistic! I was wondering what you use to hold your track down? I was using hot glue, but I wonder if that's the best way to do it?

Thanks Boiler!
Trainiac , I use Peco Track Pins through the holes on the underside of the Unitrack. Once the scenery goes on it also holds it down.
Thanks Guys , Mike

Once again great video! Looks like we'll be in our new house at the end of the month so I'll be able to get the layout going by Christmas!
Keep'em coming!

I also have just moved this last week.:thumb:
We found a home that will house my layout, now all I need to do is get it out here to Nebraska from Wisconsin.
My problem is that I have started a new job in IL that will last about 3 months.:curse:
Perhaps I can slip away over Thanksgiving and get my layout and rest of our furniture that is in storage back there (weather permitting)???:winter1:

My layout has been in storage for about 3 years and that seems like a decade.wall1

Good Luck on the new job . I hate when work stands in the way of trains !!!!!

Here is what I got done today. The overpass will act as a partial viewblock to the portal at the window. The back side will be mostly trees to complete the block. The overpass will tie into a road that passes through the city area.

Very cool. Did you build the overpass free hand or was it a kit? Nice detail on the whole thing especially the road surface.

(2 weeks to go before I can start working on my layout!)

Thanks Trainiac , I built it totally scatch and freehand. Multiple curves are not fun and thank god for super glue!!
I am glad you can start soon!

Merry Christmas to all!
Here is what I added this weekend to the ACTRR.
I have put in a 4 track yard on the front edge of the layout to handle all of my rolling stock that will not be on "made up" trains. Also added another Electro-magnetic un-coupler and the two caboose tracks double as the program tracks. I only had to make a small adjustment to the panel, by adding 1 DPDT switch to the program track and make the old program track switch a block switch.

Merry Christmas back at'cha! Once again the layout looks great! The new yard looks like it will add a lot more operation. I like to have all my cars out as well. How many cars do you think you can store? I was wondering how wide the layout is where the new yard is? It looks great with all the tracks stacked up the way you have it.

Trainiac The layout is about 30" wide there and the total sidings on the main are about 7' long. The new yard section should hold nearly as many cars as the old yard plus the 3 track yard at the opposite end and I can have at min. 4 made up trains out. I just put my new El Capitan out and will try to take video tomorrow.
Thanks , Mike
