Lets not forget the obviously drug induced H R Pufnstuf!!

Yo Phil... I'm a tad older than you  so your memory is far better than mine... i must have led a very sheltered life because i didn't see these - or at least i can't remember them. Did they have any "One liners ? " such as "Just wait a moment while i go and powder my nose ! " sign1 My main childhood memories apart for the obvious are : The Magic Roundabout - Tinker and Tucker - The Five o'clock Club - Blue Peter and some others but nothing that compares to what your thread is all about, the childhood masters "Gerry and Sylvia Anderson" without whom, our short time of being a child would certainly have been a SAD one !

The Banana Splits were normally on during the school summer holidays. The show was a mix of slap stick and cartoons including the 3 Musketeers and the Arabian Knights it also had 2 creepy little girls that sang ta-ra-ra boom-de-ay.Other summer Holiday programmes were..The Flashing Blade,Robinson Crusoe,The lovely lovely White Horses with the great theme song as well as Whirly Birds and Champion the Wonder Horse.
Nothing as you say had the same lasting effect as the Anderson's programmes. http://www.thechestnut.com/index.htm

I remember White horses, and like you say the theme music was brilliant ! I can also remember Robinson Crusoe. Even when i was a infant and growing up to be a teenager i recall watching "Watch with mother" time and time again... with the Flowerpot men....Trumpton....Camberwick Green...Mr Ben  . When i was off school poorly  i used to watch the "For Schools" programmes, i enjoyed Johnny Ball and all the fascinating facts and figures that only HE could make exciting. The programmes that i didn't care for were " Play School " especially if it was all about animals and i wasn't so fussed about " Animal Magic " ... not that i had anything against animals, but i was more into the science part of things and loved watching someone make something - Like the " Blue Peter Makes " who had a version of Tracy Island which went down a bomb and they were inundated with repeat requests for that, in the end they printed out instructions. Phil my friend you really know how to stir up MAGIC moments for us all here. For getting this thread and our childhood dreams going again, you deserve one of these... Thank you Phil

I remember Simon Groom on Blue Peter trying to give Biddy Baxter fits with his double entendre, one of which was just after an item on building traditional wattle fences he announced to the other presenters with a perfectly straight face." he always says that so long as you have a decent length your certain of a good lay". The BBC once received complaints about the late Oliver Postgate's Clangers for obscene language!! for those unfamiliar with the Clangers their voices were Swanee Whistles:v8:
