Herr Bizer, you beat me to the punch, This is one of those models that I plan to do. Already have the background info I need to get started. Will watch your thread. Here in the Southern U.S. we tend to pay much more attention to the War between the States more closely. We have more battlefields in every Southern state to remind of that conflict. In fact we have all of the battlefields with the exception of Gettysburg.

Cannon

Here are a few pictures of the proposed cannon. The details are in my other computer, along with the limber carriage. The cannon itself is rather easy, it is the wheels that I am working on. I went to the Artillery Museum to get close-up details as to where the other rods and pails go as well as the handles and buckets. Eventually I will get around to it. The most common piece was the 12 pounder and the easiest barrel to make. It has less contours and is a straight tapered barrel.

Great field piece, are you going to make the ramrods and other items like buckets and elevation wheel, paper-mache cannonballs? Or at 1/48 scale you can use B.Bs.

You must wait, the model is not finished.

Here the last parts from the cannon:

Sehr gut! :)
You need to stick something in the pics to give a sense of scale to the completed model. Lookin' good, though. :thumb:

Sorry Ollie, It's my impetuous nature sometimes to be over zealous. Waiting for the finished product. I assume you are going to use the Gettysburg poster as a background. Keep in mind that the Confederacy also used many captured Union field pieces throughout the War. You could place both flags on the diorama. Don't use the present day U.S. Flag we only had a lot less stars back then.:wave::wave:

I make a stick when the model is ready for take off :thumb:

Why sorry?
No problem, but with the flags i dont understand!
My english is not so good.:eek:ops:

Here is the build from the plate:
