Next showing on Friday starting at 5pm with a Joe 90 double then a double Stingray and finally Thunderbirds.I literally grew up with Stingray both of us being created in 1964 I used to have a solid plastic Stingray way back but it was eaten by the monster that lived in the work area behind our bath,I also had a large plastic TB2 with a floating detachable pod which was a brilliant bath toy except for the fact that it had the mole in the pod which was not the most floaty of the TB vehicles, I tried to rescue someone from the bath overflow with it but the drill broke and the rescue failed.

Thanks for the info Phil, I will be tuned in. 1964 must have been a vintage year as i was found under a bush [at least thats what my dad used to tell me] in that year too sign1. The great thing about having a 10 year old son is that he has all the re released Thunderbirds and Tracey island, he also has a diecast Stingray and Terrorfish somewhere, I will have to have a hunt round to see if I can find them. Mind you, I would probably have to look after them for him:mrgreen:.

ok:rolleyes:..... 1964.......I've got a few years on you guys........ Heck I even remember having JB's Thunderball trading cards......... boy I sure wish I still had em......

Gixergs.... Yeah we got those two going and a few others...... I'm even lucky I get BBC America and can see some of the original before we get them Americanized (canibalized). I keep hoping our Sci-Fi will pickup the old UFO Space 1999 series but alas not yet.

Gary the fish looks great! Maybe you could even make the jaw go up and down, that would be neat.

I remember bullet hole stickers that were given away by garages as a promo for one of the James Bond movies, everywhere you went it looked like the cars had been strafed by gun fire,of course these days the cars usually have, Ah wacky fun for those wacky kids!.train97
I had a set of Captain Scarlet Bubble Gum cards they had pictures from the shows on the front and the reverse were a sort of jigsaw that built into the end credit pictures,I also had UFO cards from packets of sweet cigarettes and complete sets of the Star Wars cards, blue and red, that I have seen go for obscene amounts on Ebay,wall1
Ho Hum.
All the best Phil

A Gerry Anderson 'Stingray' Sub Paper Model - Finally!

Gary,

This is a paper modeling dream come true!
I am old enough (55) to have experienced the STINGRAY TV series here in Sweden in black & white, when I was a very young teenager in the 60s.

I downloaded your new model from the Pepakura Gallery site but when I was done and I had extracted it, I found it was a pdo. file. As I am a Mac user, I can´t open it with either Photoshop CS or Adobe Reader. Do you think you could publish it as a JPEG, GIF or PDF file, as you have done with some of your other magnificent paper models?
Btw, I am about half-way through on an up-scaled model of your marvellous 2001 Space Odyssey Orion III Space Clipper. I have even cut out the passenger and cockpit windows and I will eventually do a simple interior, with seats. It´s a great model design!

I am looking forward very much to building your Stingray sub model!

Best regards from Stockholm,
Bengt :thumb:

PS. Could you include a link to your download site here?

Hi. If you go back to the site where you got the Stingray model from you will find a PEPAKURA VIEWER to download there my friend so you will be able to open the file up and do lots of fun things with it... and print it out of course. I replied to this for Phil because he might be busy getting us some announce1PICTURES of his Stingray WIP :thumb:{oh god please let this be so..} hope you don't mind me stepping in there for you my old mate. Regards. Your friend Pete. Have fun Bengt

Hi Pete, I think the problem is Pep is a Windows programme that wont run on Mac's could be wrong though usually am!. Nope no pictures not for a while yet the problem that I had before I have again so work is confined to very early mornings and then only the ones where I feel confident enough and awake enough to use a sharp knife. Hopefully things will calm down again soon. I will try to find an angle on my rough build to take a photo of to at least give you an idea but to be honest it is really FUBAR and not a very good advert for a great model for which thanks again Gary I think thats the major Anderson vehicles covered now, at least when the Terror Fish is done. So just out of curiosity what gaps would people liked filled, an SPV and a FireFlash would be nice
any others?.
All the best Phil

Gixergs,

If you Google "Codeweavers" you'll find a site that has a small Mac program that lets you run many Windows programs WITHOUT having to install Windows. It's creepy but it does work (to a certain extent).

They keep improving it, it may open the viewer.

I'm finaly getting a new work machine and have Parallels and Windows to install on it so I will be able to run the Pep viewer. Hope It'll let me print to PDF though.

Well, I have a 1/72 TB2 and 1/48 elevator car that would go nice with Fireflash in either of those scales...

From the Captain Scarlet line, I'd love a decent-sized Cloudbase or one of the Angel Interceptors from the CGI New Captain Scarlet...the originals were delicate and precise like a MG, the new ones are like muscle cars...

Gerry Anderson was very bitter about the treatment the new Captain Scarlet got on British TV feeling it was never given a proper chance it originally being shown on a Saturday morning kids programme at different times and split into segments through out the show shame as it did have potential. The original Angels were rebuilt into the Mig 242 in Joe 90.

That's a real shame - unlike alot of today's remakes I always felt that the New Captain Scarlet was very true to the somewhat dark feeling of the original series and it is a pity it was treated as a kid's programme (most of which are yuk anyway - have you endured an episode of 'Star Wars - The Clone Wars'?). I've only seen the first four episodes of NCS (all I have seen down here and that was in a bargain bin) but would love to see it continued along with the same treatment being given to Thunderbirds, Joe 90, Fireball XL5 and UFO (it wasn't better with live actors)...

Hi Jagolden. If the program works on your new machine could you save the PEP Stingray to PDF format {or any other that can be opened on a mac}and post it on here so that our friend with the mac can just print the model without having to use any additional software which would be great news for him. Regards Pete.

You are right !

Hi there Phil. You are not wrong my friend it does seem to be an issue with the pdo file and mac comps, I replied to Jagolden to see if he can convert the file on his new machine and save it to pdf and post it on here for our friend to use without the need to get extra software to do the job. So sorry to hear that you are getting less free time again mate, and i hope things improve soon for you - must be very frustrating {keep away from the SHARP stuff if you have blurry eyes { RED on the model wont go sign1 } All the best. Your old mate Pete. P.S A nice CRABLOGGER in large scale would look pretty cool on anyones shelf { a very large shelf mind..} :thumb:

The impression I got from the interview I saw was that NCS did not get the viewing figures required for the TV company to pick up more episodes.Anderson feels this was largely due to the programme being aired in such an unfavourable way,few programmes would survive being shown at different times without any advertising within another programme, a programme it should be mentioned that featured fart jokes, covering kids in gunge, fart jokes, covering adults in gunge, fart jokes, shouting in funny squeaky voices while being covered in gunge and that old classic fart jokes. I got to see the New Captain Scarlet at 7am in the mornings as whole episodes and thought it was as you say very true to the original keeping the darker side of Captain Scarlet and the humour as well. The only plus is Gerry Anderson although upset by the treatment of the show is still trying to get other ideas on to the screen so there is hope of more Anderson magic in the future. I have seen clips of SWTCW's and that was frankly more than enough. Another cgi series that was smothered at birth was Dan Dare which I also thought managed to be true to the original but have a new feel to it as well it even had my beloved and Dan's as well Anastasia another ship I would dearly love to have a model of.
