Good Evening, A ho hum day, stayed in and did very little. we had a sunny 28 so this is one day less of winter we made it through. A few laps for the new GG1 and that was my train day. I only saw/heard one moving live GG1 so my memory could be blured but I think this horn comes close. John if you get a chance to hear one of these new engines, let me know what you think...S.J.

Good morning.

It's 53 and cloudy. The high should be in the mid 70's and it will be partly cloudy.

Got a lot of work done on the Shell station yesterday but there's still more to be done. Most of the work done was on the outside. What remains has to be done on the inside and I'll have to scratchbuild some things for that.

I just saw the charge to MediCaid (paid) for my new shoes. $130, each ($260 total). That's $440 LESS than my last pair 3 years ago. That's kinda like the prices of low-end running shoes vs high=end dress shoes.

Good Evening, We had a sunny morning and now the expected snow has arrived. Heaviest is suppose to be south of Detroit and into snohio. No trains today, went out for lunch and stopped at a dollar store. that was it. Have a great weekend...S.J.

SJ, And now it is on the way to us. The experts are split on what we will actually get. I've heard predictions for anywhere from a trace to 8", guess we will wait and see. Did call off the train show trip tomorrow, not worth getting in an accident. Have more trains now than I need, don't we all. Although I heard a lot of GG1s in my youth, I'm not sure if I remember exactly what they sound like. I tend to remember the steamers better for some reason. Guess I wasn't enthused by the GG1s.

Good morning.

It's 70 and quite cloudy out here by the lake. The high is supposed to drop to the high 60's and falling throughout the afternoon to the mid 50's. There's a small chance of rain.

Spent part of yesterday rebuilding the old Midtown Consolidators building. It literally fell to pieces when it was removed from the layout to make way for the Shell station. I also put in some preliminary work on a potential location for the building. There's a deep hole and steep embankment there right now. I'm going to fill it in (landfill comes to mind for some reason) and work out the buildings location from there. That should keep me busy for a few days at least. I also have to make the assorted odds and ends for the interior of the Shell station. Most will likely be printed backgrounds as my scratchbuilding days are long behind me. That requires a certain amount of manual dexterity that I don't have anymore thanks to health reasons.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA 71446-6114 1/10/2009

Heat Index: 70°F

Dew Point: 67°F

Tonight Low: 38 Cloudy until late night then becoming partly cloudy. Much colder. Lows in the upper 30s. North winds 10 to 15 mph.

Just got back from town. I went to Lowe's and dropped $77 on some tools. A 5 pack of Dremel reinforced cut-off wheels, a 3 pack of Porter Cable jigsaw blades (6 tpi high carbon steel) and a Dremel model rotary tool to replace my old Dremel model 395 type 5 which is going on 25 years old now. I can still use it but the bearings are singing their death song and I have to run it at really high rpm's to keep power up while I'm working with it. I'll probably send it in for a rebuild. If the new one lasts only half as long I'll be happy with it.

GOOD EVENING Snowed all day and still at it. Measured about eight inchs. Cleared off the driveway and sidewalk a little while ago. I read on another forum from someone that bought the new GG1 and the Trainmaster that the horn is the same in both, so there goes that "I wonder if" idea. Have a safe sunday...S.J.

Good morning.

It's 37 and partly cloudy. The high should be in the mid 50's today and it will be partly cloudy.

Didn't really get much done yesterday. I had a bit of trouble to clean up on another forum that I'm an asst admin on and that kept me tied up for several hours. The cause of the problem has yet to be resolved. I also picked up a new Dremel moto tool yesterday as my old one is on the way out after 25 years of faithful service. Today I'm looking at starting work on some of the interior backgrounds for the Shell station and do some work on a Walther's engine house. There's still the unfinished business of the hedges for the park and I need to start work on the foundation for the Midtown Consolidators building.

Tonight Low: 32 Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 30s. Northeast winds around 5 mph.

I spent part of the morning getting these background textures together for the interior of the Shell station. Now comes the fun part. Cutting them out! Good thing my nerves aren't acting up too bad today.

Good evening guys,

Well both PA teams won in the NFL playoffs. So far so good. sure would be nice to have an all PA superbowl.

Jeffrey, where did you get the interior images that you printed?

I asked this question on another forum, but will try again here. When laying HO flex track, does it matter or is it easier to lay the track on curves with the movable rail on the inside or outside on curves?

Have a good week,

Good evening. I've been working on the Shell station today. I got the interior walls for the sales area put together and up and put up the lining wall for the work area. I also added a few details outside the building. Now I'm waiting on a couple of gas pumps.
