I started to make them out of posterboard, but the tabs got tedious so I scrapped the first build and redid them again using the template I made and cutting them out of Foam board. The recessed panels on the walls are double laminated posterboard cut to the width of a ruler and spaced apart on the foam board. Last I cut thin strips for the edges of the foam board and glued them in place. I will post the enclosed bay next posting. The enclosed bay area is perfect for protection of the model and the small pieces as well as being able to enclose it with thin clear plastic to protect it from dust, but that is another project.

The walls are up.

The hanger bay is practically done. I went to snapon.com and got some tool reference pics. Placed the hanger bay signs up as well as other items. I had to break down and use some electrical wiring for the extinguishers and for the Oxy tank. the only items that are not paper related.

This thread is almost done, or is it. As mentioned earlier, the bay is modular and lends itself to expansion to the sides as well as to the front. I might work on a build of expansion, but for now I am considering which viper is next and the Repair Bay which is a little different than the hanger bays.

Now if I can only master the art of building personnel to man the bays.

For "SHIN" the first pic is details for the rear landing gear Mark II.

Don't hesitate to drop a word to get guidance or give advice.:wave::wave:

Viper

Great job on the hanger bay. Are you going to make it availible for download? If so, I would die to have it:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:. The Epson tool boxes and computers where a great idea wish I had thought of that. Here the two vipers I'm working on. I keep you posted on the progress as I make it.

Doing research on the maintenance bay. Working on ladders and ox-cylinders. The more research I do, the more I want to add. I may go for the overkill.:rolleyes::wave::rolleyes::wave::mrgreen::mrgreen:

mind you anywayz sir, most colonial documents are hexagonal in shape, like a bit of the corners cut off etc.

thanks for the heads-up on the gear assy.

i am still working out on a shape that accurately models the engine nacelle's lower main gear bulge.

however, i think i would imitate your laminating procedure you used on the wings as basis for the main and possibly nose gears too, due to more strength produced. plus or minus some textures.

in a bout a few day's time i would be releasing the gear set...

one last thing, could you draw up the cockpit part's templates so i would have you releas them with in software textures? thanks, your one of the best...

Next Project

Greetings Shin, Adama and Dyna Soar.

I am going to get the next bay ready for the hanger. I was going to do the Raptor next, but I will do a tutorial on details for the Mark II, such as the nose recess, the side recess, the cockpit interior. the wheel well bump, the engine recess, and the landing gears.

I have all the research done for the Raptor and found a good build tutorial on the ship. The only thing missing are the interior seating arrangement. I do have good pics on the instrument array, but I will set it aside for now.

This hanger thing has me going, I hope I will have the room for it. The opposite side of the hanger is the launch entry which is rather complicated but I will consider it for a later date. The flat wall hanger has the control room access and stairs to the bay, I may reflect it on this next bay area.

The next bay

Here is a build up of the bay area. Even though it says Raptor on the bay, I will be placing another Mark II in there. I forgot to put the access door and stairway on this bay as well as the control room window. Next time, next bay.
:wave::wave::wave::wave:

I have this build on a RAR file but I can't upload it as a RAR and I do not have PDF capabilities at this time.

Continue build

More on the Hangar bay. It is straight forward and rather easy. The hardest part is furnishing the the bay with the tools of the trade. When you cut the wall panels, make sure that they are laminated 2X on posterboard.

Cut the Laminated strip to the lenght of the wall and cut two sections about 2 inches wide for each end. The section in the middle cut out enough to make a gap in the sections lateral. The space is about the thickness of two popsicle sticks glued together and placed on end between the panels.

Follow the sequence. It is just building a box with holes on the sides and top.

The Bay is almost done

I usually try to paint as much as possible. This to save me a trip to staples for ink cartridges. When the object is small, the printer is feasible, but when it is page width, a lot of ink goes into it.

Besides, I love to mix colors. My other hobby when I get bored is that of painting and drawing. My favorite medium is that of waterbase acrylics.

This session is almost at an end. Now to figure out how I am going to make my next viper. It will be based on Jay Bats design to keep it in scale and heavily modified.

Merci Mon ami. vous Anglais cest bon, moi Frances cest beacup mal e' limite.

I go to your Forum once in a while. it sort of mirrors this one to some extent. There are some excellet modelers on the other side of the Atlantic.

I have to get a zip program so I can be able to upload my builds one of these days.

WIP: TOS: Colonial Viper, MK II Viper, MK VII Viper,

This little lark has got me started on a long trek and many miles more to go.At this time I am working on my Viper version with detail cockpit and other goodies. I will post the beta build later, there are a few fit problems but when I do the clean job, it should be resolved.

Oh by the way Adama, Our motto is RANGERS LEAD THE WAY.:wave::wave::wave:

Colonial Rangers you mean?

Adama was referring to the airborne tab on my avatar, I did not place the ranger tab above it, so he he would not have known the other motto.

But then "Some people say that life out here began out there" Colonial Rangers sounds good, sort of historical like the American Rodger's Rangers during the Colonial days.

Who is to say that it may have originated on Caprica and filtered down to the lost colony.

Silver,

Sometimes it's not to give all away at one time. Paratroopers look up to Rangers with great respect and adoration.

more to come

By the way Adama, once a trooper always a trooper, in special ops we never say ex-trooper but former trooper, Ranger, Seal, Force Recon, SF. Like the Marines, we are a brotherhood.

I am still working on my Viper, Scratched the first build. Attention to detail will always get you. I was wondering why the skin was not going on correct, I built the fuselage with the curve on top instead of the bottom.wall1wall1wall1

This build was scratched and will start over again. Here are a few frustrating pics and the updated schematics of the full interior cockpit as well as the ribs and bulkheads :wave::wave::wave:
