Fullerton, Ca. Railroad Days canceled.

I found out at the railroad club's Christmas party last night that the Fullerton Railroad Days celebration that ordinarily occurs the first or second weekend of May each years has been canceled. A major reason for the Fullerton Plaza Railway Association to organize and promote the Railroad Days celebration was to raise funds and promote a new Railroad Museum to be built next to the Amtrak station in Fullerton. At the city council meeting for Fullerton in December, the council voted down the museum. Railroad Days was the biggest single event each year in the city of Fullerton drawing people from all over So Cal for the weekend. A museum in the areas would have been a draw to the city on a year round basis. I guess the city council just doesn't want people from out of town to have any reason for visiting Fullerton.

Give the councilmen a boot in the rear next time they're up for election....That'll learn them to have a more "forward" looking vision of the past....

Hopefully the loss of revenue for the business owners in that area will get the crooks booted out. Since I don't live in Fullerton, I have no vote in their elections.

I suspect that it is just typical short sited politicians. Knotts Berry Farm is in the next town to the West of Fullerton. Disneyland is in the next town to the South. There is nothing of interest in Fullerton to attract the public except the Amtrak station that attracts 6-12 railfans each day to watch trains.
