Train Shows Increasing

Last night a special on freight trains on Modern Marvels. This morning a special on engineering projects that built the railroads, such as the Moffat Tunnel, the Chunnel, an Eatern viaduct and other constructions.

Both presentations interesting, informative and miles away from the Gee-Whizz attitude of Extreme Trains.

It saeems we have a resurgence of interest in trains, possibly due to their emphasis in a changing economy? I predict - and you saw it here first - that a new "cop show" will debut shortly starring an investigative agent(s) for one of the major lines such as UP, investigating theft, sabotage, accidents and terrorist attempts while capturing the railroad and scenery in living color. NCIS on rails!

New concept, great advertising fior the railroads - imagine all the "infomercial" material the star could inject under the guise of instructing a colleague - and great ratings if done properly.

Better yet, time cop on rails!

They can cruise around to various time periods...a shootout on the Silverton train of 1890 one week, a stolen boxcar on the BNSF the next, and then Japanese saboteurs on the Alaskan RR during WW2 the next!

I like it...but don't you think van Damme is getting a little old for that sort of thing?

I don't know, but I'm certain that he (whom my good friend Luc from France informs me, pretends not to remember how to speak his native language of French when in France sign1), if he were to team up with Chuck Norris and Steven Segal, could destroy the death star while kicking the teeth out of anyone whom insults their "seasoned" status.

a hobo show would be interesting...

but you know teevee these days: "Reality" shows, game shows, cop/detective, and awards shows. No room for anything else but that crap.

Maybe because he is Belgian...the native language is either Flemish or Walloon.

60% Flemish, 40% French. He's a native French speaker...but the show can have him speaking Dutch! Yes, in its history line, Belgium remained a part of Holland and all languages other than Dutch have been suppressed! This is primarily so they can refer to "Dutch waffles" instead of "Belgian waffles"

Is that really possible?

A GC/MS person I know, a big fan of CSI, swears up and down that the vast majority of the things they do on there are not possible in analytical chemistry...besides...it is tv...everything is possible except killing everyone on the island aside from the survivor :p

Jean-Claude van Damme would track down the burglars and beat them up instead of arresting them
