jefelectric. We don't live very far apart. So what it is doing here it probably will be doing there. Very windy here last night 45 degrees this morning. Have to go to hospital this afternoon for a class on knee replacements. It is part of their program for patients. I have a lot to do this AM so off I go. Everyone have a good day

Lester, I have a pretty good idea where you are located. We had a place in Swan Keys, Del. for 10 years. That is just outside of Fenwick Island on Rte 54. Used to commute just about every weekend, that got old after a while.

Are you going to have a knee replaced, if you mentioned it I must have missed it. If so our prayers are with you. My wife had arthroscopic surgery on her left knee about 2 months ago and is not doing well at all, today just had it drained and got a shot of cortisone. A friend who had a knee replacement about the same time is doing much better than she is, and this was to be minor surgery. My step mom had one done at age 80 and she could out walk me afterward.

Guys, my Mom had a knee replaced a couple months ago and she is doing great now - but, it was pretty rough.

Snowed here, but just enough to cover the lawns a little. Roads were wet, but not too bad when I went to work and when I came home. There were a ton of accidents due to ice on overpasses etc, though.

Jeffrey - trees look very nice! Good luck on the EGR thingy.

Good morning.

It's 29 and clear. Somebody done left the freezer door open! The high will be around 60 and it will be sunny.

Yesterday I decided to bite the bullet nad took my car to the local mechanic to find out what's ailing it. He checked the fuel pressure. It was fine. He then did a computer diagnostic. The only thing that popped up was the EGR valve. Problem: the parts store wants $200+ for this little lump of metal. That'll be the day! I went to the local scrap yard and got a used one for $27. I'll get around to putting it on sometime this week. Today I have to go to DeRidder to get measured for my new shoes. It' took nearly 6 weeks to get the Medicaid BS out of the way.

Good morning folks

It was a bright 34 F as I headed out the door this morning. High today will be 46 F. We had some nasty weather last night. The weather guessers said we might get some showers. While we went out to Borders we had heavy downpours with snow and sleet mixed in. It made for some interesting driving.

The Christmas decorating marathon continues. At the rate we are going it will take all week (which is about the normal amount of time). No trains. I am hoping tonight I may be able to sneak down to the workbench for a few minutes.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning all . thanks for the encouragement on the knee replacement. I have an interesting twist to throw into mix. I had a stroke July of last year. It effected my left side. walking is not all that easy because of nerve damage now my right knee is bad. I am going to the same rehab I was in with stroke. I already know I will be in rehab at the hospital. I stopped in there yesterday and spoke with them. They said "No Problem". OK enough of that I need some suggestions / ideas. My left arm and hand are kind of out of control. How can I replace my left hand on the work bench. I am using helping hand now (alligator clips on flexible mount) that does help but not a cure all. suggestions please

Good Evening, just checking in.Cold here in the Detroit area, below freezing all day and the forecast is not for anything better. Very depressing weather. Les I have meet many people over the years that have had replacment parts and all seem to do well after recovery. Nothing to help you with your bench work though, I use the clips when I solder now, have trouble holding my hands steady. A good evening to all....S.J.

I replaced the EGR valve on my car today. It improved things a bit but it's still running a bit rough. Being that the EGR valve I put on is used it may be
bad also, so I'll get another one when I can and try it. If that doesn't improve things then I'll have to go over the vacuum lines (groan) one by one to see if there are any leaks anywhere. I'm looking forward to that like I would to a root canal without
anesthesia. To top things off I lost my glasses. I had placed them on the front of the car between the hood and the windshield while I was working on the car. When I finished I went for a test drive to a neighbors place 3 miles away. It wasn't until after I got back that I realized what I did. I've searched the road side between my place and my neighbors place from the car and on foot to no avail. I guess I'm gonna have to figure out a way to come up with $300 for new glasses. Not an easy trick when your total monthly income is $627. There's not gonna be any train money in the budget for 5 or 6 months I guess.

Good evening all. I have have another project I will be working on. It is a resistance solder station I have some of the parts on hand already and have a source for some of the parts needed just have to find a cheap source of Carbon rods 1/8 inch around,. This project will be for my work shop to help in fabricating rolling stock out of brass, tin and copper:cool: Parts on hand enclosure, banana jacks and plugs old useless soldering iron to be gutted and power cord and handle salvaged for use on this project:twisted: just need to find 12 or 14 awg wire a foot pedal and carbon rods. Have a ready source for x-former and alligator clips. will keep you posted on progress of this project.

Layout table top has two coats of primer and is ready for green paint will tackle it tomorrow:thumb:

Need to fit in some time to figure out C and C++ C# programing(games and electronic formula calculator to be translated from basic)

Man = You young Bucks don't know all the tricks!!!! :D :D

Get a can of carburetor cleaner Those nice ones with a red spray hose thingy - and take that EGR valve off and clean it out!!! LOL

Then replace it....

Then - attach that red tube that comes with the carb Cleaner.. Start the engine.. Let it idle for a minute... Then: C A R E F U L L Y shoot each end of each vacuum hose... If there is a leak. the engine will either run FASTER or stall out.....

But the last thing you sprayed is the leak!!!!

I've done this more times than i'd admit LOL Works every time!!! ... unless there is no leak... then - you're on your own again :)

Well Mikey I guess the old saying "great minds think alike" is true. The only thing I do different is I use starting fluid / either on vacuum lines.

Jeffrey, getting a mechanic would have been cheaper. Might check the line going to the head. Could be stopped up with carbon. Wife's Nissan [no longer here] had the line stopped up into the head. Seafoam did not cure it. Had to remove it and clean it out. Computer said EGR valve and it was fine. Good luck.

Good morning.

It's 52 and partly cloudy. The high is expected to be in the low 70's and there's a chance of thunderstorms this evening.

Having a bit of a problem focusing on this due to eye strain so I'm having to type it in a little a at time. No luck on finding the glasses yesterday so I'll probably be going to Wal-Mart today to find a cheap pair of reading glasses so that I can at least read the forums a bit better and maybe see to do some detail work. You don't miss something until it's gone. How could I have been so stupid! Oh well, I'll just have to push on.

Good morning folks

It was 26 F as I hit to highway this morning. High will be 48 F. I can say it felt like one of the coldest mornings of the season thus far.

The first round of decorations is almost done. We will be getting ready to bring home the tree this weekend and begin the next round.

My daughter had her flute lesson last night. It was her last lesson before her recital on Sunday.

No trains last night. We watched Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls on Pay-per-View.

Tonight we have Cub Scout Den Meetings.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning. Spent moring drafting a letter to the editor of one of the state's largest newpapers. Mis-represented the facts [as this guy usually does]. Got a cold. Still have to get out and water greenhouse, clean the rest of the gutters and get up leaves. Later
