Proto SD 45 Traction?

I just picked up this CSX blue/grey Proto 2000 SD45, fairly new, the last owner mustn't have ran it. All the stuff is in there, no imperfections at all everything was in the box. Got it for $30. I put it on my straight test track and my small 4X4 and it cant get traction. If i push on the butt-end it'll pull like others say but the rear wheels just want to spin.

Is there any way to fix this? I noticed the wheels twist like an old school leaf spring axle but I thought that might be the problem, too much free play in the rear... Any thoughts?

Looks like this guy

open the shell and add weight over the truck

I did peep in there and surprisingly there isn't much room in there, the proto is mostly a metal weight to begin with. Before I opened it up I wanted to put in a basic weight but there's no room like an 90's athearn would have.

Now I'm AMP'd
Check the metal frame. It might be warped(though I never heard of it happening, but its possible), lifting the rear drive just enough so the wheels are barely touching the rails.

Cracked axle gears, or a missing driveline to one of the trucks.

That's what it was. The front traction axle wasn't secure into the one housing, I pushed it back in and it runs great . Someones loss was my gain :thumb:

Just another thing to think about when we buy from china.
