Hang tough, CSX - diets suck.

Jeffrey, looks like some work there. It's 27 degrees here in St. Louis, but no trains on my horizon today as we are going to a funeral today.

John - that looks like a nice diesel locomotive! I've seen a lot of pics of them running the other way too.

Hey, here's my first video on youtube - they are videos of my newest train toy - A-5 Switcher I ordered back in March I think? Both are only a couple minutes total. You might want to turn down your sound. My camera adjusted the sound up even when I turned it down. At one point I turned off the sound and you can really hear how much noise is coming just from that fasttrack.

Afternoon all,

Jim, The pennsy, and a few others, always ran them long hood forward in the early days of diesels. The reason I mentioned it was because MTH didn't get it right with the SD-9, there are no cab figures in that loco, but it starts up in short hood forward, which is incorrect for PRR.

That O-4-0 looks and sounds nice, also smokes nice & I love those smoke rings when you start it out slow.

CSXect, Good luck on the job front, the economy is not helping you much there. Weight is a constant battle for me as well. I just like to eat to much.

John.....Did they run the Fairbanks Morris Trainmasters in long hood forward mode also ??
I like to run mine in short hood forward.

GOOD EVENING, well we had our first morning of winter bumper tag. 1 death, no seat belt ,thrown from car and hit by another. All we had were flurries that melted on the roads untill about 4AM,then it froze. DPW not expecting a freeze had no salt trucks ready. No trains running today but did read some from our favorite kind of mags. Cold all day so just stayed in. Have a great Veterans day...S.J.

Nip it, Jeffrey - be careful!

Thanks guys - I was running the TMCC with the left hand and the camera with the right. I need to dial in my TMCC better so I can get more slow/low gear - this is my first real TMCC locomotive. Otherwise, I have been using a tpc400 to run my conventionals or MTH locomotive. I don't have it set right now, since I had about 1/4 inch of turn on the knob from stall/stop to full speed! This locomotive has coilcouplers at the front and on the tender so they can be fired from the remote (CAB1).

John - that's interesting. I think that Lionel has a GP7 coming out in PRR that is long hood forward with figures in the cab (I think)? I want one, but have to balance that against other stuff we need for the house right now.

Good morning.

It's 58 and cloudy. The high is due to be around 70 And it looks like rain will be coming in later.

The weather here is already wet and dreary so I won't be going much of anywhere so maybe I can get some of the junk cleared off the layout and get it somewhat presentable. Maybe today I'll get a chance to install a decoder in the SDP40F A unit and get it speed matched to the B unit. Once that's done I'll come up with a patch job for them to have the L&A roadname on them. It's day two of the antibiotic treatment and they have dragged me down a little but that usually happens until I get used to it. No way am I spending the Thanksgiving holiday in the hospital two years in a row. Ain't happening.

Good Evening All, And to the Vets.....Cold and cloudy 34 here, maybe low 40s tomorrow. I got a yard that looks like #### leaves all over the place from somebody elses yard. I'll run the mower over them once more and thats it. No trains yet today but I am expecting a friend to come by tonite for some training. Have a great tomorrow....S.J.

Not much going on here just the same old time wasting on the forums that I could have been working on layout.........will do that tomorrow as it will be warmer and raining outsidesign1

hamr:v8: I have such a head ache .....changing of the seasons it happens twice a year spring and fall does a number on my sinuses wall1

Chuck, Yes the PRR ran their tranmasters long hood forward. I was pretty sure they did, but I just checked my book on trainmasters and all of the pictures show them with an F on the long hood and those where the engineer is visible he is looking toward the long hood. BTW the PRR only had 9 of these. That being said, on your railroad you can run them anyway you want.

Interestingly the Reading had 17 and initially ran them long hood forward, until the engineers complained of exhaust fumes entering the cabs, so in 1958 they were designated to run short hood front.

I actually have books with pictures of PRR, Reading, CNJ and DL&W trainmasters running booth ways pulling trains.

I was not able to get on the forum late last evening, kept getting a database error. Seems OK now.

edit Just got the same error when I posted this, when I tried to repost it I got a message telling me I was posting a duplicate post???
