This thread has some good timing to it. I'm looking for some finer grade ballast to "bury" my yard tracks in. I've been using the WS fine grade ballast, however want to add a layer of "dirt" on top of the ties. I'll have to give them a call and get some recommendations on what to use to get the desired effect I'm looking for.

I noticed that AR&M offer bulk shipping which seems like a fairly decent deal too for what you can get in a single shipment.

Im also interested in getting some "dirt" the stuff looks pretty cool and realistic lol

I need to get some BNSF, UP, and M&ET track ballast. M&ET's ballast is pretty simply and looks pretty much like BNSF ballast so i think i can get away with using the same ballast for both lol but it would look cool to have different shades where the 2 meet.

the Bulk Shipping is a good deal too :thumb:

Tetters,

There's a guy making the rounds of the shows West of TO. He's a Micro-Mark distributor, I think he calls himself "Hobbyworx".

He has his own line of scenery products, especially fine ballast and earth. I have a bag of "Ontario Limestone" #1 ballast, which is as fine as Highball, but not as white. It was $4 for a 1 lb bag.

I remember that guy and was checking out his stuff last year. I think I will definitely have to make the trip over to Mississauga this year and check out his booth again. He had a lot of cool stuff.

I was actually thinking about him when I replied to this thread. :thumb:
