Nice pic this morning, Jeffrey! Sounds like you got some wiring done, good job!

TRAINZ shipped my new PRR A-5 switcher with TMCC and railsounds - yeah! Also some trick or treat figures. I wonder if they will ever ship the lionel teddy bear?

Sir J - it's 57 degrees now that the sun has gone down on St. Louis with a high of 63, but windy and felt a lot colder all day.

Morning. Busy. Got to run errands and also put rest of plants in greenhouse. Then off to the lake this afternoon and spend night. Come back tomorrow aternoon. Have a good one.

Chief, I decided not to heat the greenhouse this year until about February 1. Not worth the expense to heat it just to carry over a few plants. Gets to cold here. Will start the slow seeds in the basement and then move the seedlings to the greenhouse, start the later seeds in the GH after Feb 1.

I've got my two switchers (Athearn SW1000 and Proto 2000 SW1200) converted to DCC, no easy task considering they were straight DC before. The two will be lashed up together with the headlight of the lead unit on full time in forward and flashing in reverse. The cablight on the trailing unit will on steady in reverse and flashing in forward. You gotta think about that for a second to get it straight. They're both hardwired with DZ125's so there were no space issues. It was a bit of speed matching an Athearn and a Proto 2000. The Athearn was way faster. I've got them pretty close now though. The Athearn is set on the switcher speed table and the Proto is flat out on the main line speed table. And that's with the decoder wired straight to the motor, no resistors anywhere.

Jeffrey, I assume the gearing is very different in the two switchers. Wish we could adjust like that to lash up TMCC and DCS. You can adjust for minor variations in speed but not like you described.

Jim, is that the K-line A-5 that you are waiting for? If so I had one of those when K-line was still in business, but it was conventional. Very nice loco, but I have gotten rid of most of my conventional stuff. Only run TMCC and DCS now.

John: It's surprising what can be done in DCC. I could have speed matched them perfectly if I wanted to take the time to keep tweaking the CV settings but close is good enough for me.

Good morning folks

It was 37 F as I headed out. Our high today will be 57 F. We are under a Freeze Warning for the overnight. Last chance to get those plants in.

No modeling last night. We had our monthly Cub Scout Pack Meeting.

Tonight I may have a chance. My daughter has an away volleyball game and I only have a couple of things to do around the house this evening.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Slow day on the pot today, when the Chief's away..........

Tom we had an unexpected freeze last night, we have everything in that's coming in. This is going to start the maple leaves falling now. Ours still have most of their leaves, but the neighbors red maple is just about bare. Of course most of those ended up in our drive and lawn.

Had yellow grits for breakfast this morning, when the weather turns cold I get a yen for them. Worked it all off at the gym afterward.

GOOD EVENING ALL, Not a train day, my AM was a trip to the dentist to replace two very old fillings.Wow $$$$$ how things have changed. Yes I do go twice a year for cleanings I just did not notice how the rate slowly was rising. A few have mentioned a new CTT but I have not seen one here yet, mine usually takes a while. 31 yesterday AM 37 this AM, we are doomed....S.J.

Been a busy week for me. Monday, I hit and killed a deer. Car is a mess and we're waiting for the results from the appraiser. Thankfully, the wife and I are fine but just a bit shook up. Yesterday, I tripped on another one of the dog's toys (same place as the last time) and sprained my ankle (same one) again! Off for a couple of days on crutches and fortunately, the pain meds are working. At least BP is showing normal.:thumb:

MadH - wow! Good luck on the car, I hope you get your $!

Chief, you put in a long day! Is that building going to house your next layout?

John (JEF) - Yep, it's a TMCC K-Line with front and back coil couplers and railsounds, lights, smoke, and railsounds. Should be very cool!

Jeffrey - sounds like you are really good with the DCC stuff! I always like to see your layout pix.

Sir James - sorry about the dentist, don't you hate to spend money on stuff like that when we really need more trains!?

Good morning.

It's 45 and clear here. That barbed wire fence between here and the north pole has done fell down. The high is expected to be in the mid 70's and it will be sunny.

Well, this morning I went and did it! I turned the heater on for the first time this season, just long enough to take the chill off. I must remember next year to vacuum the dust off the coils before doing that again. What a smell! Yesterday I went over to see what progress is being made on my nieces trailer. They've got half of the sheetrock up so far and are wondering what type of paneling to get. Some of the major appliances are in already, refrigerator (they had to take the entire front door frame out of the wall to get it in), oven/range (electric), microwave (and is it a BIG one). The central AC/heat is in (all electric), electric water heater. There won't be anything in the trailer that uses gas. Guess she took a lesson from me on that one. I don't have any gas appliances either.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA 71446-6114 10/24/2008

Wind Chill: 45°F
Humidity: 94%
Dew Point: 43°F

So Far Today
High: 46°F
Low: 44°F
Rain: 0.01"
Rain Rate: 0.00"/h
Gust: 8mph NNE

Today High: 75 Sunny. Highs in the mid 70s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight Low: 45 Clear. Lows in the mid 40s. Southeast winds around 5 mph.

Jeffrey....Make sure she uses paneling that has no ADDED urea formaldehide in its fabrication....Don't want a repeat of the Katrina trailer fiasco...
Chilly here too.....

Thanks Brutus. We're calling today to see what's happening on the car and in case they do write off the car, I've picked up some magazines that advertise cars for sale to get the ball rolling to get a replacement.
And if they do repair the car, then I can pass on the magazines to someone else.

Ankle's doing much better. Not as painful as before and the swelling has gone done considerably. I had to adjust my tensor bandage last night as it started falling off my foot. Also, the dog is being very well behaved. I guess she knows something is wrong.

Good morning folks

It was 38 F as I rolled out of the driveway this morning. High today is supposed to be 62 F. They say we will get rain tonight and tomorrow.

This is a busy weekend. We have the last weekend of our Cub Scout Popcorn Show and Sells. I am not sure what we are going to do if it rains on Saturday as the location we are at does not have much protection. Also Saturday we have Cub Scout Fitness Day which is a mini Cub Scout Olympics. Our pack is the defending champions from last year.

Last night I managed to get some time to put away some things off the layout. I also was able to look over the layout and saw a few things I have to fix like knocked over people or a door off a building. If all goes well that is what I will try to care of this weekend and maybe run a train.

I hope everybody has a good day.
