PS - interesting effect, Jeffrey! Is that regular foil or heavy duty?
That's the regular foil. Diamond aluminum foil to be exact.

Good morning.

It's 55 and clear. A little on the nippy side for Louisiana. The high today will be in the mid 70's with abundant sunshine.

I started in on more work on my coaling station yesterday. I've added some of the beams in the roof and started on cutting out the individual rusted metal sheets for the roof. If I have time today I'll get started on the rafters. What's going to be tricky is getting the right amount of sag in the rafters. Did I mention that this roof is a scratchbuilding project?

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA 71446-6114 10/19/2008

Wind Chill: 55°F
Humidity: 79%
Dew Point: 49°F

So Far Today
High: 59°F
Low: 55°F
Rain: 0.00"
Rain Rate: 0.00"/h
Gust: 5mph NNE

Today High: 75 Sunny. Highs in the mid 70s. East winds 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight Low: 48 Clear. Lows in the upper 40s. East winds around 5 mph.

Here's an update on the coaling station project. I've got some of the rafters in. After they've dried sufficiently they'll be painted a nice weathered gray.

CSX - sounds good! if you are using wood, could you use a dremel or something to carve the "boards" to the shape you want?

Jeffrey - that's coming together nicely. I wonder if anyone ever did one of these all rotted down and broken. Seeing the exposed boards made me wonder about it. Maybe one that had burned but they got it put out? Hmmmm - the Haunted Coaling Tower! ;)

Morning. On the run. Back from SS and now moving plants to greenhouse. Getting ahead of the game. Then to the lake house to take some things and check it out. Later.

Good morning folks

It was a cold frosty 39 F this morning. Our high toady will be 63 F. We had a bit of frost this morning. On Saturday night I pulled the filter out of the fish pond and sunk the water lilies. I also had to bring in the tropical plants from the front porch. Now it is time to think about pulling the a/c units out of the windows. I tested and the heater for a while last night. This morning was the first morning it came on.

It was a busy weekend. The Cub Scout pack sold popcorn both Saturday and Sunday. My son worked the first shift on Saturday which he was scheduled for and filled in for a non-show on Sunday.

On the way to the popcorn sale the van started to overheat and I had no heat. We got to the mall and unloaded the popcorn and got things set-up. My wife and I then took the van over to Sears and had them check it out. They could not find anything wrong mechanically or electronically. It was low on fluid, however. They flushed and refilled the system and pressure checked it and found no leaks. I plan on taking it to my mechanic and have him look it over. In the meantime I will be keeping an eye out for leaks.

Saturday was also my daughter’s birthday party. They went to a local mall where they went to a video game store that they could try out games. They did a scavenger hunt. We then had some ice cream cake and opened gifts. Lastly they went shopping with the gift cards they got as party favors and any money they brought.

Needless to say no trains this weekend. I am hoping for sometime this week.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning.

It's 50 and clear. A little nippy for this part of the country but nothing I can't handle. The high today will be around 80 with plenty of sunshine.

I've got most of the rafters installed in the coaling station. Sometime today or tomorrow I'll be cutting the pieces of rusted roofing metal to scale 10 foot size and gluing them in position one piece at a time. In some places a piece will be loose or peeled back and some pieces will be missing altogether. This should lend one heck of an effect overall for the structure as it stands a lonely vigil beside an abandoned stretch of track.

This afternoon I have to go to DeRidder to see a urologist about my prostate condition. It shouldn't take long, a couple of hours at the most.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA 71446-6114 10/20/2008

Wind Chill: 50°F
Humidity: 93%
Dew Point: 48°F

So Far Today
High: 54°F
Low: 50°F
Rain: 0.01"
Rain Rate: 0.00"/h
Gust: 0mph NNE

Today High: 80 Partly cloudy. Patchy fog early in the morning. Highs around 80. Southeast winds around 5 mph.

Tonight Low: 52 Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 50s. Southeast winds around 5 mph in the evening becoming light after midnight.

SJ, I can always find something that I NEED. Ordered one of the Pennsy G5s locos. To my knowledge this is the first time that this has been offered in Proto 2. Ordered 2 boxcars and an R50B express reefer. Also the Waddell Coal hoppers. That should hold me till Spring. :thumb:
