1880's paycar

NKP I remain in AWE of you scratchbuilding skill! That is truly some beautiful work. I plan on scratchbuilding some hoppers and ore jennies this summer, maybe in a few dozen years I will possess enough skill to do a passenger car the likes of yours!

Can't wait to see the next progress pix!

I guess it has been a while since I've updated this.

The roof is coming along nicely. I chose the masking tape roof technique. It has one roof of Roof Brown applied. I'll be adding the various vents soon. I outfitted it with 4 light bulbs in the prototypical locations for this car.

The car body recently received its oval name plates, grab irons, and the new doors have been assembled. It has a received a single coat of my own recipe for Chocolate Brown...it definitely needs another.

The truss rods are connected to the car using the prototypical hinges near the bolsters of most wooden passenger cars.

Very nice, and it's nice to see you working on this stuff again!

The roof is a masterpiece.

Did you scratchbuild the oval nameplate? It may just be my computer, but it looks lop-sided.

That is Impressive! Gets me in the mood to build some more cars for my Copper Range RR.

The two Copper Range cars at Mid-Continent are built with nearly the same features as this car...with the most notable exception being the bullnose roof profile which drops (really not any more difficult than the flat profile on this car).

Mhmm, pretty much every Copper Range car follows that profile. Funny part is both #60 & #25 began as the exact same type of car (#25 was rebuilt by Copper Range from #59!). Right now I'm using La Belle wood kits, I have #60 almost done, however she's not exact, so scratch building might be better.

Please post some pictures! I've long wanted to see the construction of a La Belle kit...and I love wooden passenger cars.

The car I'm modeling started out as a pay car and was rebuilt into a business car with 1/3 of the windows removed. I saw her once, when I was 7yrs old. The South Park converted a few coaches into combines as well...sounds like the same sort of thing as #25. A couple of the South Park sleepers were turned into combines.
