Great plan Loren, and you have obviously done a fine job on the bench work, that is probably the most important part of a layout is the solid, flat bench work, keep it up, and let us see progress as you are able.

Well, finally have some progress to show. Track work is done ( I even made my own turnouts this time )and i have been operating the layout working the bugs out. Here are some pics. Also some pics of a building i made, Gary s. style.
Second picture shows the road made of asphalt roofing shingles.

Hi...I see you modified (or haven't finished..??) the area where you have a single spur at an angle. Your track plan shows two straight spurs here. Is there a reason behind the change..?
It's amazing how much railroading can fit in a relatively small space....Good job..!!

Gus, I ended up moving the industry that I show in the track plan to the spur on the top left because I forgot to leave room for my furniture factory.:eek:ops: It was to big for anywhere else, so I had to change to a single track siding. Also, the way the way the original track plan looks, it looks like a double track main ( to me ) and I did not want that.

Thanks Tetters. I've seen the track work you do, so if you think mine are ok, I must be doing something right.

Looking great! That looks like a fun little layout! You guys that are brave enough to build your own switches are really impressing me. I don't know if I'll ever do that.

First, I agree with Jesso - anyone who has the stones to take on a turnout as their first attempt at handlaying is doing right just on that fact alone! Until I actually try it and find out it's easy (or not), I'll always be impressed with you people who build them yourselves!

Something that Tetters noted in one of his threads that would probably apply here - don't cut the length of your ties until everything is complete then - bzzzzzt - whack them all off even with a Dremel

One of P2K's 0-6-0s would look awesome on there.

Agreed! I love those locomotives - I need to get another...

Also, I like the track plan - it gives me an idea for my grand plan that is under way. :thumb:

Love those pictures. Thanks for posting them up!

Loren, I'm excited to see you giving hand laying another go. If I'm not mistaken, you were getting a little "put off" by your attempts awhile ago. Glad to see you are getting good results this time around. This is going to be a great switching layout for sure. That is some good solid bench work you have there too. :thumb:

I wonder if my wife would let me build a layout in the front room??? :p sign1

Tetters, this time I want to take my time and enjoy the layout. Usually I get in a hurry to get the track done and run a train. So I use Atlas switches. Well, the Atlas turnouts I have have been on 3 layouts so far and were getting pretty sad looking, and I hated the thought of buying more when the train just clanks, banks and derails on the turnouts. So, I said this time I am going to do it right.
