Here's a sneak peek at the sign for the air conditioner company at the back of my layout. Their building looks just like a giant window unit. Wouldn't be the first time a company made their building look like their product.

Remember...it's for fun!
Ah! Disguising the air conditioner as a building! The company name is funny and continues an age old model railroad tradition of bad puns for business names. :)

Went to the LHS today and picked up three items.

This set of trackside buildings: Model Power #643

And two packs of Kadee Whisker couplers:

A pack of crossing gates and railroad crossing signals (non-op): Bachmann #42200

Then I hit Hobby Lobby for these two items.

A Western Pacific flatcar from the Bachmann Silver Series and a 1969 Olds 442 from Model Power's Exclusive Collection.

Hey Jeffrey, nice haul on that WP Flatcar, I wasn't aware that Bachmann made any WP cars. I'll have to keep an eye out for one of those.

SWEEEEEEET. Love photos of the Zephyr getting serviced. Judging by the Yellow headend car, Rio Grande Zephyr rather than California Zephyr??

Sure hope they had that near track blue flagged!

Since the layout is once again stored in the garage crated up, I reallly need to get me one of them slick photo diorama set ups like Deano has. I think I'll design one this week while I have the time off from work.

In the mean time, I got a few of my favorites out on the test track after a quick lube job (having 3 days off from work straight has made me bored). I got a new Canon XSi 12.2 MP digital SLR that I am still trying to figure out, so I thought a few model shots might be a challenge. Still a challenge, the closeups so far are nothing to write home about. I'll eventually get the hang of it though.

Now that I look at these, I really need to dust my living room.

Here's a few that *kinda* turned out:

Thanks Deano, fighting insomnia tonight, so I think I'll use the time productively, plug the headphones into the stereo here, rock out, and design a photo diorama. I already have an idea in my head for a double track main with a branchline that comes off the main and runs down the middle of the street in the middle of an old fashioned down town. Street running is a lot of fun, and with a modern Amtrak station at one end, will give me a chance to photo big road power, local power, passenger power, steam excursion power, and shortline motors on the street trackage. I really like the Walthers Cornerstone series buildings, so I will make use of several of those as well. Got a ton of work coming up in So-Cal, so a lot of time in hotel rooms at night and can drive down there, so I can take projects and a tool box with to get some of it built.

Wish me luck, it's been YEARS since I built any kind of layout...
