Good morning.

It's 73 and clear but it stay that way. As somebody has said, if you don't like the weather here, wait 15 minutes, it'll change. The high should be around 90 and there's a possibility of thunderstorms.

Yesterday was devoted mostly to working on my Bachmann/Athearn GP40 as I stripped it of it's bogus SF paint job and repainted it in the black and white colors of the Midland Gulf Railway freight scheme. After a light weathering the unit awaits it's new number and will go on the waiting list for a decoder. A photo of it in it's present form is at the bottom of this post.

Morning all. Going to service my pickup after breakfast. Showers this PM. Hey all, CN owns all the way to New Orleans. CN is a foreign company [even though Canada seems not to be to me]. Fireants poped out of the ground. Found several big nests yesterday while mowing. One big one in the field across the fence. Could see where they tunneled just under the surface to get to my yard. I fed them well. Spectrocide has some granduals that they love. Sprinkle on top of mound and they rush out and start takeing it into the mound. Few hours later, no ants. Time for breakfast. Later

Good morning folks

It was 74 F and looking like a storm was brewing on the way in this morning. High will be 81 F with severe thunderstorms later in the day.

No modeling last night.

Tonight is one of the busy ones. We have football practice if it is not canceled due to the thunderstorms. I have to attend a Cub Scout Roundtable and my daughter has flute lesson. My son’s school has what they call Grade Level Meetings tonight. Of course all this stuff is going on at the same time. Since we have been through the Grade Level meetings before with my daughter and know my son’s teachers we most likely will not attend them. Also I do not like the way these meetings are conducted since there is almost no one on one contact with the teacher unlike the old Open House they used to hold.

I am not looking forward to football practice as I am not sure what my reaction to the coaches will be after Sunday’s debacle. For the time being my son has chosen to play. I have given him the option and he says he wants to see what happens at the next couple of practices. I will still be speaking with the Assistant Director of Football to discuss available options.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning.

It's 75 and cloudy. The high today should be around 90 and there's a chance of thunderstorms.

I received a package in the mail yesterday from Euclid, Ohio. I was expecting it so no big surprise there. In it I found two gondola bodies, three hopper bodies and one caboose, all without trucks and couplers. Again this was expected. I have every intention of rebuilding all of these and putting them into service. Yesterday I rebuilt two of the hoppers which evidently had Talgo trucks originally. I installed Bachmann trucks and body mounted Kadee #5 couplers and immediately pressed them into service. The roadnames and numbers will be left as is as an honor to the modeler who gave them to me. The only change I'll make will be to add the logo of the MGRy below the cars numbers.

Good morning folks

It was 64 F as I rolled out of the driveway. Our high will be 74 F under sunny skies.

No modeling last night. I went to Cub Scout Roundtable. Also I spoke with some folks regarding my son’s football team his situation. I am going to be speaking with his coach and requesting that he be transferred to the JV squad. He is barely playing and since the coaching staff seems to only be working with the starters in practice he is standing around doing nothing. He can’t learn anything by standing around and it is obvious they feel he does not know enough he would be better off on JV squad where he can learn.

I hope everybody has a good day.

As far as I know it's the initials of the modeler I got them from. He makes his decals the same way I do.

Just how do you make your own decals? I used an ink jet paper/film and color of model showed through the decalwall1

Some where I read where there is a way of making a multi color dry transfer decal:confused:

I print mine on white tracing paper. That means adding a background color (color of surface) but you can't have everything. I cut the decal out, apply it with a thin layer of white glue and allow it to dry. Afterwards I spray the area with decal sealant. This waterproofs the decal and I can then apply whatever weathering I want.

Saw some where that a British company was trying to buy CSX:eek: That is an alarming
bit of news as our countrys infrastucture is apperantly up for sale . :curse:

A british private equity group called the Children's Investment Fund (how is that for a name for a bunch of vultures?) has purchased a large block of CSX stock and has teamed up with another large holder to try to take control of the CSX board. There is presently some litigation going on and I'm not sure where that stands. They really want to suck all the profits out of CSX rather than have them spend any money on improving the infastructure.

Spent the day at the museum today cataloging photographs. Worked with original A. C. Gilbert photos that were used in American Flyer HO catalogs. Very interesting.

Got my 2008 TCA convention car today. Her is a picture of it being delivered.
