I am converting a concor mack ch cement truck into a dump truck. Here are some pics of it in progress.

The truck with the mixer removed, but teh cab leans backwards, so I shimmed it up. I then added L shaped styreneto raise the frame above the level of the tire tops.

Its pretty much done. But I will add a ladder and possibly some chains, along with a tool box between the dumper and cab.I pretty much modeled the box from a neighbors box he built for a real truck. Its not a Mack though! what do you think of my custom gate hinge, a.k.a., nails? sign1

With a little weathering and a good home, on the layout it will look right in place.

It looks great! You did a good job on getting the cab to not tilt backwards. The steps and fuel tanks look nice!

Thanks guys!

As of right now (dont tell the DOT or OSHA) but the dumper is just sitting on the truck frame. I tried to make a pivot point but it raised the dump box too high for my likings. I might get a cheap dumper and use its frame.

AWESOME Kevin!!! I love it, it looks sweet!!!

i might need to lease it for my Blue Star Ready Mix plant when i built it

I want to have a whole fleet of Blue Star Trucks, Dump Trucks, Gravel Trucks, The BIG Cement Trucks that are 18 wheelers or more with the Bulk Tanker Trailers, and of coarse regular Tandem 10 wheel Cement Trucks!!! and i want them to be all my favorite trucks, MACK'S!!!! hehehehe

Did they have anymore of those cement trucks at the hobby shop? How much did you pay for it?

Something about the tri-axles on that truck looks funny to me. Maybe it is because I am mostly used to seeing 2 axles on dump trucks. Either way it should be able to haul a lot more weight. Great job on the box.

TruckLover, I want to build a few more but possibly use resin dump bodys. Maybe we will need to build a huge nationwide (HO Scale) cement supply chain.

Beamish, yes most trucks that size are only 2 rear axel trucks, but they make tri axle trucks designed to haul heavier loads, theres a concrete outfit by me with a few.

Ill check the box for the tag later, but I think it was like $9

Ahhhh i was just wondering,

Im most likely going to get Promotex Extended Chassis Macks for all the Blue Star Trucks, wont be a cheap fleet but they will look sooooo cool in the Blue Star Ready Mix Plant and yard

I have a batch mix plant on my RR. A friend bought me a mixer one time, it was a mack painted as American ready mix. that got me started. I built the plant and went after the trucks. Wow sticker shock. I was hopeing for about 10 of them, that would have been almost $200. so drop back and punt. I discovered that IHC makes a cheap mixer for about $2 each. I bought 10 of them took them apart painted them to match the original. reassembled them and now I have a fleet. No not as nice as the original but when they are lined up together no one has noticed so far. It has been close to 10 years now. Her is a pic of my plant and 2 mixers.

It is serviced by Rail for sand & cement. Trucks bring in the stone

That dump truck looks great, but for a dump truck, it's to clean, so...
DIRTY IT UP (lol, ;])
Seriously, great job.

I have the parts still in a pile.

LOL cuz im doing a whole fleet of Blue Star Ready Mix Cement Trucks and Dump Trucks for my plant. Just ordered 3 Mack Cement Trucks, i have to kitbash the rest of the fleet tho, the Mack Cement Trucks have been discontinued and are no longer made   So im taking Mack CH 613's with the sleepers removed and mounting Cement Bodies from the Peterbilt Models on them. For the Dump Trucks, im also using Mack CH 613's with the sleeper removed, some with Lift Axels and some not.

You have any plans to use that Mixer Body from your Dump Truck?
