Hey guys, sorry - storms hung around my house until bedtime, so just read some train magazines and hunkered down! TomPM - prayers for your foot too. Sweet tea is good for kids, Chief. I've got pics of me as a baby walking around with a baby bottle full of it - and look at me now, perfektly fine!

Oh, maybe it was Pepsi Cola in the pic.... But, there was plenty of sweet tea. If we were sick, we got honey and vinegar, served hot by the tablespoonful. It worked, but I've never had it since then!

Good evening all,

Didn't check in yesterday as I was a little under the weather and spent most of the day in the recliner. Feel great today and spent the day at the Museum.

We definitely need some rain, but none in sight.

RI Rocket, You and your family are in our prayers.

Chief, Grandkids will be showing animals at 4H roundup on Friday, not sure if we will get there as wife has a Dr. appointment that day as well. Will show again week of the 18th at the E-town Fair.

Hoping to stop at Barry's tomorrow and see if he has any Lionel and K-line catalogs left for me.

 Good morning every one

Off to work here shortlywall1

In newspaper add from Columbus steel castings they are hiring for all positions due to increase in railroad demand of wheels and and trucks for the trains:thumb: which is their main product. Maybe I should try and get in their test lab(they do stress testing of castings and other neat technological stuff)

Slept good last night.

Good morning folks

It was 73 F on the way into the office. High today will be 89 F.

I slept better last night and did not feel exhausted this morning. I am not sure what caused the foot pain to flare up so bad Tuesday night. It was down by Wednesday morning but lack of sleep kept me from doing much until the afternoon.

My son was disappointed at football practice last night. They did not get their pads. He wants the pads because he hates running drills. Once they put on the pads the running drills are replaced by hitting drills. The funny thing is, he is an excellent runner. He constantly finishes 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in sprints, and is generally one of the leaders when they do laps.

I ran a train last night and I think I got all the dirty track spots taken care of for now.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning. If you're wondering why I haven't been around much it's because I've been busy (and still am) burning DVD's. It seems I have this big collection of Star Trek Enterprise DVD's that I would love to watch. Problem is they're all recorded in the PAL (a color TV standard with a picture frequency of 50 fields per second (625 line, 50 hertz), and sporting a better color picture than NTSC.) encoding standard which is incompatible with my NTSC (525 lines per frame at 30 frames per second) equipment. So what I'm having to do is translate the PAL format into NTSC and make a usable copy, for my private use of course. How this is done is quite technical in nature and would be a sure cure for insomnia should I explain it. Suffice it to say that I have a bunch of useless masters that I'm making into usable duplicates. This will add greatly to my growing Star Trek video collection. I have all the movies and the complete original series. I also some of the DS9 and Voyager series. I don't care much for the Next Generation series.

HOWDY, just back from the train store, could not resist preorder Classics GG1 Passenger set. I think the pricing is to offset the new Williams. Anyway its done now. we have nice weather in the low 80s but still no rain which is normal for August.
Doug- it was a Marx crossing bell and metal two lite tower, both needed new post and had some wire issues to fix. S.J.

Now I'm off to a hearing specialist, because during my annual test the Dr. discovered - I seem to be losing my hearing. Just like my Mom did when she was around 50 :( :(

Nice to meet another Sci-Fi bug. I didn't toss it in earlier but I have all the Star Wars movies, screenplays and storyboards as well. I used to have a very extensive collection of Star Wars memorabelia as well as most of the action figures. I even had the Millinium Falcon set up on a model train layout at one time as it was very close to HO scale (and you thought I couldn't make this train related). Sadly, I had to sell them off about 15 years ago in order to support myself after I became disabled. That was before I got my SSI going. I like the old Battlestar Galactica series though I don't really care for the new one. I like Dr Wo. He gets in some interesting scraps.

Sci Fi movies/tv - I'm a big fan. We have the Star Trek movies and the next Gen series on dvd. I think we are missing a couple of the movies though. We have, too, man other sci fi movies like the Star Wars movies. Yes, the Star Trek cartoon series is out on dvd now. Jeffrey, I sent you a PM on your project.

Mikey,
Not a good thing. I've been wearing hearing aids since I was 40, almost 30 years, and they are a big pain and expense. Of course I would not be able to function without them, but they sure do not replace natural hearing. Mine is also hereditary, my dad started to wear hearing aids in the 40s. Back then they were built with miniature gas filled tubes and were about the size of a pack of cigarettes, he had to carry A & B dry cell batteries in his hip pocket. Sure glad they have improved since then.

Stopped by Barry's Train Shop today to pick up the new Lionel and K-line catalogs. While there I got a NIB Lionel Reading caboose from the early 90s and a new controller for a Z-750 transformer. As I was checking out the displays I spotted a PRR MIa by Lionel. It had a low price on it and found out that it was used, looked like new. Turned out that I knew the former owner, who had passed away earlier this year at 97. To make this long story shorter, Mike twisted my arm until I bought it. It is scale and has TMCC, Legacy Speed Control and RS 4.0. Think it was in the 2003 catalog. We ran it at the shop and it ran and sounded great, has the Long tender with the doghouse. Will post a picture when I get it unpacked. One more thing, it has smoke of course, but the former owner never turned it on. I noticed that the stack was clean and Mike said he could not stand the smoke. Will give that a try as I like smoke!

Tom, Glad to hear the foot is doing better.

Sr James, The new catalog has some nice looking stuff if you are into the postwar stuff. Hope they sell a ton of it as I would like to see Lionel around for a few more years.

Earlier this evening we had a short storm which dropped a tenth of an inch of rain, but did leave a beautiful rainbow.

It is amazing what even a small weight loss will do for Blood sugar blood pressure Cholesterol is mostly a diet thing all though some people are more prone
to develop it due to food consumed. I had to go a more controlled diet plan where I am monitored and counciling as I did not have a structered program to follow and build will power.

Tip have the right math for the jig:mrgreen: and be sure to have the right tools( Quick clamps to hold down one end of the track while bringing the track around jig which also needs to be clamped down as well):thumb:

Evening all. Busy day. Early call to go look at possible High School site. Then so on on and on. Neighbor [the crazy one] got involuntary committment yesterday afternoon late. He is in state mental hospital. His Mom came today and picked up his dog. PD Chief said she was almost as bed as he is. He got fired from Rite Aid yesterday and told not to set foot on property or be arrested. He was going to take his knife and go kill them all. Shipped my Lionel Legacy base and remote off Monday for upgrade. Got email this AM saying received yesterday. Got following email that it was upgraded and shipped yesterday too. Tracking number says delivery tomorrow. Pretty good turn around. Good night all.

If you did a poll you would find that most of us are older(30 or more), not active enough, and look at the food we eat(banilla, pizza, pop, BEER(it is a carb, carbs make you fat) and sodium in diet pop makes you retain water, the only diet pop that has NO sodium is diet rite. and lets not forget our hobby has us standing or sitting in one place for the most partsign1 So put down the cab1 the dcs handheld and let go of the throtle and run, jog or even walk to the nearest LHS and reward your self for improving your overall health:mrgreen:

Sorry but had to get it out of my system.sign1
