What's Happened To The Gauge?

What's up with the weird changes that suddenly appeared on this site? The URL I'd been using for sometime - which formerly led to specifically modeling railroading subjects - now leads to a horrible mish-mash of model trains, sci-fi models, military models and God knows what else!

Obviously, the site changed it format but why and why without, as far as I can ascertain, any warning? Although I've "saved" a new specifically HO URL, it looks like it doesn't give access to the broader range of model railroad subjects the old URL did.

Am I the only one unhappy with these changes?

Nope, I can't figure out where the heck I'm going either. I used to have a direct link to the n scale forum, now I can't even find it. It would be nice if a notification were sent out beforehand.

One cannot always anticipate what changes take place when you change servers or upgrade software. We upgraded the software here several weeks ago and there were a few minor glitches. We changed servers about a week ago and again there were glitches, mostly with the domain name URL. This caused a lot of links to be broken and the temporary loss of some pictures that were linked to the Gallery here. We are working on restoring those links, and have taken care of some major ones. There are several threads here that address these things and what we're doing to correct them all. Some links may not take you to the same place they took you to before, and you may have to change your bookmarks accordingly to overcome these differences. Many people have different ways to get here, and you still should be able to do the same as you were, you may just have to change the URL in your bookmark to do that.

We are sorry for the inconvinience, but chalk it all up in the name of progress. We most certainly would have given you advanced warning if we were aware of everything that was going to be affected. We still don't know about everything, and we are finding these things out as we are told, so we do thank you for your input, it does matter, and it will get things working a lot quicker.

And no, we are not trying to punish you or drive you all away. We have created a lot of work for ourselves, that's what we've gone and done... , but we're sure that the site will be a lot better off in the long run.:thumb: :thumb:

CNJ999 I put this shortcut on my desk top. once there I go to "quick links" and "todays posts" http://www.zealot.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=6
finding the gallery and making my other shortcuts work took a little time, but Ive got things pretty much set the way they used to be.
Charlie

Hi Charlie,

Would you be very kind to us technocripples and share your links (i.e., gallery and other shortcuts)? :eek:ops:

Thanks Charlie: better that you posted that than me, though, as I'm sure that there are more than a few Members here that have seen enough of my stuff.

I was able to "find" the Guage by going to Zealot from Internet Explorer. I still can't get there from Flock but I am learning to be a devious and patient person

Dr.Wayne:

I always enjoy looking at your pics! Many days, when the discomfort gets really uncomfortable, I look to see if you have posted any new pics, or comments, or instructions, or whatever. Reading them and looking at the pictures makes my day!!!
I'd really enjoy meeting you in person, someday!
BTW, that guy is holding the gold cup, which is meant for you!

Charlie and Carl, thanks so much for the kind words. :) I wish that I had time to take some fresh pictures instead of using the same old stuff all the time. Maybe when I get finished with these loco rebuilds. ;):-D

I've been out of this forum for a few weeks as I've been busy on the Marklin forum. I was shocked today when I logged onto the gauge. I didn't know where I was. It was completely unfamiliar. The old format was gone and in it's place was a mishmash of subjects totally away from HO or Z model trains. Also, I needed to log on which was a first in over a year. If it's permanent, then I'll just stay with the Marklin guys from now on. Actually, the gauge has never been quite the same simce these new guys took over. Now it's almost unusable. bob

Bob, if you use the link which I posted in Post #6 of this thread, it'll take you to the current version of the Gauge, which looks just as good as it ever did. ;):-D:-D:-D
