Ah railfan pictures are great too Deano. :D The MP15AC & MP15DC are sharp looking units. Don't see any of them over this way though.

Deano, as always, love the GP30 pics:thumb:

The GT auto rack reminds me of when I began railfanning as a teen. I lived less than a mile from the GT mainline:mrgreen:

Deano, dude, dial up? Wait, let's not go down that path. I gotta say for all that you contribute here means even more to me now. You, Sir are one of a kind. Which means one of many here on the gauge.
Hummm, I'm not sure that's going to read right but what the hay. Now the stupid question of the year. Is is possible the UPY switchers in your last post could have been here in Anaheim, Ca last year ? I know, I know
What a dumb question, but I feel like I'm starting to relate to these engine like their people:eek: and I know sooooooo little:confused:. Do I need intervention or what?

Joe

Btw, thanks for all the neat info all of you post here on the gauge.

Joe, YOU, MY FRIEND, have just MADE MY DAY:mrgreen: , THANK YOU!

i think few people realize what it really takes to keep a thread like this going, and there has been a few times i was ready to just throw the towel in:eeki: (i was close last week:eek:ops: , thank my VERY GOOD FRIEND Wayne"doctorwayne" for stopping me:winki: ). Don't get me wrong, i enjoy doing this thread:thumb: , i like sharing my rail fanning, modeling pics/tips etc., and sharing info, it just seems like a lot at times:eek:ops: . YOUR complement though, WOW, just the shot i needed, THANK YOU!:smilie:

Now, as for the rest of your post...
UP's MP15DC's were all here at the Harvard Yard from the CNW take over, i have a pic of them as CNW's, BEFORE they were painted in the UP colors....
DCS13756.jpg

And here is a pic I took of them AFTER they were repainted:thumb:
MPHARV.JPG

Now i am really unsure about the MP15AC, its NEW to the Harvard yard, and i don't know where it came from, i haven't done my home work on this one yet:eek:ops:
DSC00948.JPG

FOR THE REST OF YOUR POST...
First, NO question is a dumb question:winki: .

SECOND, i too feel like i know these engines, its like they are old "friends" , i know, send me to the loony bin:119: , but you gotta understand, i rail fan UP's 2 local yards, WSOR's local yard, and ICE's local yard so much, that i have come to know ALL the "Home" engines to these yards, they are kinda like kids:119: , if one of them is gone, i get a worried feeling wondering where it is...:eek:ops: . thats kinda a bad thing though, because if nothing new is in the yard, its got to the point its boring:roller: . What brings life to it all are the "over the road" engines, UP Usually has a nice assortment of HUGE EMD's & GE's to mix things up, and WSOR has an assortment of SD40-2's that i haven't seen much, because they are their "over the rode" engines. ICE, well, not much for over the road engines here in these parts, usually just the same two locals(GP40-2's):roller: .

NO, no, YOU DON'T need an intervention:cry: ....but I DO!:toug::119:

AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR THE COMPLEMENT:smilie:

Matt, THANK YOU:mrgreen:
YES, the MP15AC & DC's ARE OUT, you can get them from Atlas and Athearn, BOTH are excellent models, and run well:thumb: . they don't come in the #'s that the engines up here have, but the numbers could be changed:winki: .

Your Welcome Deano. Thank you.:thumb: I will have to go out and get a set. Even though it will not fit into my era I can make an exception.sign1 Now don't faint or anything when I say this. Might turn one of them from UP to Chessie.sign1 If you do faint, I will have to bucket of water ready this time to wake you back up.

Hey Deano,

I was thinking I may have seen 1475 here in Anaheim. But then what do I know.

Deano if it wasn't for people like you (and a few hundred others on the gauge) people like me would have nowhere to go. Keep up the good work; I do admire your genuine love of the railroads. I'm sorry where I grew up was so dull railroad wise:twisted:, but then that’s the way it was. Don't ever throw in the towel; you have way too much to offer. And btw, that Dr. Wayne guy, well he sounds like a pretty  good egg. All this can't be a bad thing.

Time to hit the sack and dream about all the things I saw at the train show this past weekend. Some day maybe I'll have a clue.

Thats about right Jasonsign1 .
*******************************************************

**AS for UPY MP15AC #1475, heres the low down on it:
it was made in Sep/1975, its an EX-SP engine(#2747), it was painted & renumbered at SLC-ROPER(Salt Lake City, UT.).

I'll be darned if i can find where its UP "home base" was before it came here to the Harvard yard though:confused::eek:ops: .

Just looked up the OTHER MP15AC thats currently been added to the UP Harvard sub, its #1447, this engine too, is an EX-SP(#2718 ) , it ALSO was made in Sep/1975. it was renumbered and painted at UP's famous Jenks Yard:thumb: . AGAIN though, i have no idea where its UP home base was before it came here:confused::eek:ops: .

Here are two shots of it i took at the North side of the Harvard yard, about two weeks ago:mrgreen: .

EDIT: OK, so ALL the engines i know run that yard & the locals are:

5 MP15DC's
2 MP15AC's
6 GP40-2's (though 3 of that 6 are Usually at the South Beloit yard now:winki: ).
2 SD40-2's(but i havent seen them for awhile...i wonder if they were traded for the MP15AC's? )

Josh, thank you for the info on the Baldwins. I already knew abot SMS, but that ELS is also still running Baldwin switchers was new to me.

:eek::eek::eek: DEANO, don’t do it, don’t throw the towel!! I am glad that Wayne talked you out of it. I love your railfanning posts and I really appreciate the work you put in keeping the thread going.

Somehow I knew that you’d like the new Gas Turbine :mrgreen:. As you did not have the prototype picture, you might find some more pics (from late 1930s to early 50s) you don’t already have here: http://www.snowcrest.net/photobob/uphindex.html
