:thumb: Great pics, Jeffrey! That would be a cool project, I think.

Too hot to do anything. Went to dinner with family friends and ate way too much, just laying back with Chewy and watching some tv. No Old Mils in the fridge - or Sam Adams.

Cooked ribs [PORK] on the grill. Also cooked fresh squash with oinons, cabbage and cut up some tomatoes. Wife came home and fixed sliced cucumbers with vinegar, chopped oinions and green peppers. I had invited MIL and FIL to come. We pigged out.

Sir J, I did study too. All of it while in the "bathroom".

Early trip to Raleigh tomorrow AM. Got to get blood test [regular thing when taking Lipator] and then get 4 Runner serviced.

Good night all.

Good morning folks

It was 74 F on the way into work this morning. It is going to be an ugly scorcher today with a high of 95 F and high humidity.

No modeling last night. I had to take the kids to the library so they could pick-up some books they reserved that they need for their summer reading program. I also had to take care of a couple administrative issues for Cub Scouts. One of things I had to do was postpone our outing to Fort Mifflin for Saturday. Being at a fort with no air conditioning that is wide open and was built in the 1750’s through the 1840’s is not fun. There is little to no shelter there and with 95 F + degrees predicated we decided to try for another day. Also we watched Animal Cops Philadelphia last night. Strange seeing locations you know on such a program.

Tonight will be a little hectic. My daughter has a basketball game. Luckily it is at a local college with an air conditioned gym.

I hope everybody has a good day.

GOOD MORNING
It's going to low 90s today, storms last nite but nothing harsh near us, about 20,000 without power again this morning. It looked like about 1/2 inch of rain in my expensive Maxwell house rain gage. No trains today got other plans for outdoor activitys....Stay cool,,,,S.J.
Chief I'm happy to hear everything Came Out ok.

Morning all. At Toyota dealership on their wireless. get free pastries and Starbucks while waiting. A independent garage has diagnosed a problem for lady and cleared the codes. Now they say Toyota can not fix her converter problem until they see the code. There even is a bulliten on it. I'd call Toyota and raise h---. Just putting her off. Had a blood draw this morning. Now waiting for oil change and tire rotation. Got about an hour to kill.

Chief, I'm a little confused, are Toyota dealers now drawing blood? Or are you just calling them blood suckers?

Jeffrey, I am surprised that they let that car sit there, considering the price of scrap metal. Just last week some one stole a half mile of railroad track from the East Broadtop RR, here in PA.

John: I heard about that. I wonder if the labor vs scrap value was worth it.

Me too, they are even stealing manhole covers around here. It takes at least 2 guys or one reeeealy big guy to do that and they only get about $10 for them, but it costs several hundred to replace them. They could stop this if they put some real teeth in the buying stolen property laws. This morning's paper had an article about them stealing copper and brass ornaments from cemetaries. In the same paper was another article about 3 teens stealing overhead copper cable from NS RR.

NMRA Conventions

Don: are you going to the train show or the whole convention? I've been to 2 of them and the train show could be the biggest you ever see.
The convention is a whole other ball of wax. A full week of clinics -- most of them are just drop-ins but a few have to be signed up for. There are almost no uninteresting ones (unless it's NMRA business meetings wall1 .
Also railroad tours, fan trips, layout tours, industry tours, non-railway tours, ... unfortunately, for most of these you have to join the convention and sign-up way ahead of time.
And 10,000 guys and 20 gals who want to spend a whole week talking about trains.

Good morning.

It's 76 and partly cloudy in the Sportsman's Paradise this morning. It will become mostly cloudy later as the high climbs to the mid 90's. There's a fair chance of thunderstorms as well.

I don't need many days like yesterday. I was helping put out a woods fire north of town yesterday afternoon. The smoke was so thick you could have probably cut it with a knife. Where it was blowing across the highway (where I was pulling hose from a truck) it was difficult to get a good breath and I was seriously considering going in search of clearer air. Just about the time I thought I was going to pass out the wind direction changed and I could breath again. We had three trucks and about a dozen firefighters on the scene. It's still a tossup on whether the cause was a cigarette butt flipped from a passing car or sparks from a train going past on the KCS mainline. There were no injuries aside from a couple of minor cases of smoke inhalation.

Today's Weather for:

Tonight Low: 72 Mostly cloudy. A 30 percent chance of thunderstorms in the evening. Lows in the lower 70s. South winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light and variable.

Good morning folks

It was a muggy 75 F as I rolled out of the driveway this morning. High today will be 97 F. The Heat Index is supposed to be over 100. We are under an Excessive Heat Warning until Saturday evening and an Excessive Heat Watch until Sunday evening.

My daughter had a basketball game last night and luckily it was in an air conditioned gym. They only had four players so she played the entire game. The other team had 7 players. My daughter’s team got down 8 to 0. By half time they came back and were winning 18 to 12. They won the game 36 to 18. I could not believe that they held the other team to 2 points in the fourth quarter and were still running fast breaks after all four girls had played three quarters without a break.

No modeling last night.

This weekend we were supposed to take the Cub Scouts on an outing and picnic at Fort Mifflin but we postponed it due to the heat. I am not sure what we will do this weekend. I guess we will just wing it.

Modeling wise I need to straighten a few things up on the layout and choose my next projects. I may try to build another P2K Mathers stockcar kit. I have two left to finish. I may also pick out some more cars to weather.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all. Hot and humid here in Chicago too. Actually went into work instead of taking the day off - just to sit in air conditioning and catch up. Got the latest MR and Trains out of the library last night. No big plans this weekend, except the bride has people visiting every night...

David (Pooh Bah) - :canada1:Thanks for the response, I only plan on attending the show, I didn't realize all the sessions they were having, and the Rail Fan trips until it was too late. Should have looked at their website sooner. Usually, there are about 2 or maybe 3 train related shows in Anahiem each year. The Great American Train Show usually shows up, and sometimes an occasional memorabilia show.

John F - I don't think you need to worry about scrap dealers in your area. After all when you stand back and look at what we know......
--There is a guy in NC, who is an elected official, (won by 1 vote), who is trying to improve the community, and also has a fondness for trains. Re: missing train track ! missing manhole covers !
--As you said it would take 2 people, wasn't there an out-of-state visitor in your area a couple of weeks ago? (possibly scoping things out) Isn't that same person a close companion of the NC guy, (I think they're related). Didn't this same person disappear from all the forums for about a week? Alleging computer problems. I also think he attempted trying to abscound with a entire train from California recently, but got lost enroute after having some wine?
I think it is pretty obvious, the culprits are probably closer than we think !!:yep:

Later, need to go and make a showing at the office, then off to the train show!:steamtrain:
