Morning to All ! Hope everyone had a great weekend, worked at the computer show this weekend. Made for some long days, but were productive.

Had a couple of friends over Friday had a great time running trains and talking.

After a brief meeting this morning, will most likely have a quiet day at the office. Looking forward to tonight, been thinking about some changes to our layout. Want to confirm the feasibility, and do a couple oth
er minor things.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Jeffrey - I love your night shots
Brutus - what on earth is going on in those pictures?
Don - thanks for the BDay wish

I come to the gauge every weekday (while I am at work - work caught up, just waiting for phone to ring). If I have time I visit MRR but usually don't do any posting there. I sometimes visit the Guage on the weekends if we're not camping.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Afternoon. Don B, brief meeting??? If at the office, you will say, "Yes Mam." That is becasue it is you and the wife. :p Started meds for medical procedure tomorrow morning. Was suppose to start earlier but got "tied up" at Town Hall. Will run trains and watch TV rest of day. Can't go very far from the bathroom. Raining anyway so can't mow grass as planned. Later

Morning all. Sunny and pleasant here in Chicago. Read the latest O Scale magazine on the way in to work - the 2-railers sure do great work.

Have you downloaded the free PDF back issues? they are worth the effort I found a set of plans for a detailed wooden vat car in one of the back issues:thumb:

Chief...I gave up on weather forecasters a long time ago....It seems to be some kind of "scientific" witchcraft they engage in.....I think they've forgotten what windows are for....

Marcie - nothing, just some guys having a little fun with power tools! Jeff's granddaughter said this is "Pawpaw's biggest mess!" LOL Actually, we had to remove his old retaining wall and dug out so a we or a contractor can put in a new cement wall - depends on costs. Plus, he wants a pad poured in the parking area for a future garage (shhhh, his wife doesn't know about that plan!)

Jeffrey, nice pic as always!

A lady at work gave me an old tyco locomotive and also an old Marx 333 missing the front wheels for starters. It is in really rough shape. Her Dad passed and she thought I would like them, which I thought was very nice of her! I'm not really sure what to do about the HO locomotive. It's pretty cheesy - no glass in the windows etc. I'll save the O gauge locomotive for some future project.

Had a nice surprise this morning, found a package on the front porch. Had to wait till this evening to open it as we had a day with daughter and grand kids planned. Turned out to be the pair of Atlas RSD-7/15 locos that I had ordered as part of the Golden Spike Club. Set them up as TMCC lashup and they run great. Will try to post a few pics in the next couple of days. They are painted in Alco Demonstrator colors. They two of them will be able to pull any train I can fit on my layout.

CSXect, Do you have a link to that site?

Good morning.

It 74 this morning, slightly cooler than yesterday morning. It's also very cloudy. The high should be in the lower 90's and thunderstorms are expected to raise their ugly heads.

Yesterday was a lot of fun. With the number of thunderstorms that moved through this area I'm surprised I wasn't off-line the entire day. I also stumbled across a Mantua Tyco loco (Santa Fe 4015). With the parts I have on hand it should make a good rebuilding project. Why? Why not. I also cleaned all the track on the back side of the layout. Lots of fun that was getting the dried glue film off the rails. At least ballast isn't something that has to be put down more than once.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA 71446-6114 7/15/2008

Heat Index: 78°F
Humidity: 89%
Dew Point: 71°F

So Far Today
High: 75°F
Low: 73°F
Rain: 0.00"
Rain Rate: 0.00"/h
Gust: 3mph NE

Through 7 AM...scattered showers and thunderstorms over southwest Louisiana back building to the northwest then drifting southeast will produce rainfall rates around an inch an hour into Lake Charles and Sulphur as well as Iowa and Lake Arthur. Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the coastal waters from Johnson bayou to pecan island and out 60 nm will move southeast at 10 knots. Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall rates between 1 and 2 inches an hour will continue developing north of Jasper. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop from deridder and Oakdale to Kinder with half inch an hour rainfall rates.

Today High: 95 Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 90s with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Light and variable winds.

Tonight Low: 68 Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 60s. Light and variable winds.

Good morning folks

It was 70 F with a comfortable humidity this morning on the way in. The high today will be 88 F with sun.

We went to the Wilmington Blue Rocks game last and what a disappointment. We have been to several Blue Rocks games over the last five years and we noticed that starting last year prices have gone up for things at the stadium and their between innings entertainment has gone down. Last night we found ourselves paying the same prices or just a little lower at the concession stand than at the Phillies and the Blue Rocks are Class A. Their prizes they gave to the kids from their prize wheel were pitiful. My daughter got an information sheet on a player who played for the Blue Rocks in 2000 and my son got a pen that didn’t even have the Blue Rocks name on it. It was from a local bank. It was obvious they were cleaning out their closets. In the past they used to give away baseball cards, baseballs, pens with Blue Rocks on them. Even though the Blue Rocks were winning the crowd was uninspired and quiet. They also over sold the General Admission seats which meant that by the time we got to the game there were no seats available. It is sad to see what was a fun night out at the ball game turn into something lackluster and I doubt we will go back. No wonder the place was only half full. It was the smallest crowd I ever seen at a Blue Rocks game. We’ll go see the Camden Riversharks play if we want a fun night of minor league baseball.

No modeling last night.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Just looked through my mail yesterday and found that my new copy of "ABC's of Building Model Railroad Cars" by Wayne Wesolowski came in. I've been waiting a while for this. My old copy, which I got back in the 80's, had been stolen. I hope whoever has it is enjoying it as much as I did.

Morning all. Sunny and supposed to be hot today in Chicago. Those Alco demostrators sound wonderful, John.

Middle boy came back from camp and loved his redone room. I'm glad about that considering the 11 bags of garbage from his room I have to toss out tonight. ;)

I put one training wheel back on the youngest's bike. He's been too worried about falling over to try it without...

CSXect, that's the mag I was reading yesterday on the train. I'm going to give it to my conductor friend on my late night scoot home tonight.
