I'm back!

Spent the last five days in the Williamsburg, VA area with daughter and two teen aged grand children. Interesting. The temps bested 100 on two days, others in the high 90s. Special re-inactors weekend with lots of action. Glad I wasn't wearing the heavy clothing that they were wearing. No trains for almost a week - in withdrawal.

TomPM read a little about your vacation trials, none of that for us this time, but been there and done that. In Maine we always stay at Boothbay harbor, small and quiet, but maybe not enough action for young kids. Hope to get back up there next year.

Evening all. Town Board over. Good meeting. Now popcorn and then med with applesause. Seems to work as no reaction so far. Brutus, don't exactly know. No signs of the critter but that does not mean anything. Could be he figured he was in a hot zone and is hidding or moved next door. Gave him some more tonight. We'll see if it is gone tomorrow. Had a good shower this afternoon. Let it rain. Good night all.

Good morning folks

It was a bright 68 F as I headed onto the roadway this morning. High today will be 83 F.

I was going to take some photos on the layout last night but instead I wound-up Taking care of some scouting paperwork and letters. I figured spend one night doing it and it will free a couple of nights for modeling. I am in the process of trying to set-up various events for our pack. Going through some old files I was given I found that in previous years the pack had a great rapport with the local business community and many businesses sponsored various things for the pack. The last two Cubmasters and Committee Chairs neglected this source of help for the past 5 years. As a result the pack lost revenue as it had to pay for things that were previously donated. I am in the process of trying to rebuild that relationship. Of course this has meant I have to do quite a bit of letter writing and some one on ones. It is early in the process so I am not sure what the outcome will be.

My daughter has a basketball game tonight. Her game is late so I maybe able to sneak some layout photography in. I still need to hit the LHS to get glue.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all. Back from South Carolina. Couldn't get onto Zealot very easily - IE brings up a script error. Anyway, good to be back. Put the base legs on my coaling platforms last evening. Returned a defective guitar amp.

John, I know you went to Williamsburg VA whilst I was gone - do you think it worth the visit? We're considering the long drive next year.

GOOD MORNING
Spent a nite at Booth bay in a nice old house overlooking the bay. We had a second floor room with a porch. Very pleasant and slow motion.
Williamsburg is a must see. However its been a long time since we were there and though the colonial will still be colonial I would expect the surrounding area to be much more commerical than when we were there.
We have a nice sunny morning and I'm just going to go with the flow and see what happens....S.J.

Doug, I love history so for me it is always worth it. I've been there four times now but this was the first in the Summer. Not the best time of year for a visit, but with kids you don't have a lot of choice. If you do take your children I suggest you have them read a little about what they will be seeing ahead of time, I think it makes it more interesting. We hit a week when the weather was a little extreme, but it is usually in the high 80s & low 90s. We did not have the normal high humidity with the extreme heat however and that was a blessing.

If you want to make a real history lesson out of it, the surrounding area of Virginia is loaded with Civil War (or as the Chief would say, the War of Northern Aggression.) sites.

John I use to live about 20 miles from there. You also have yorktown right there. Its a great place for history buffs. Civil war and revolutionary war. Hampton is big in the revolutionary war part. I loved it there.

Doctors visit went well this morning. The wounds on both feet have closed up by 2 millimeters in the past week and a half. When you have diabetes as bad as mine healing comes slowly. Also paid the bills for the electricity, car insurance, cable/internet and the new fridge. Went grocery shopping afterwards to get some essentials. I'll be going back to get more groceries Thursday as my food stamp allowance will be in. Came home and put groceries away and found that the cable was out so I went to Alexandria to visit the not so LHS and Hobby Lobby. Here's something I picked up in Alexandria today.

Good morning folks

It was 71 F as I headed to work this bright morning. High today will be 88 F.

I finally finished the layout photo session I had been working on this week. I even ran a train for a little while. I still have a bunch of track cleaning to do to get things back running the way they were before vacation.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all. Slept late. Woke up early and was going to go to a meeting [another county next to us]. Said, "Why?" Went back to sleep. May go to Mom's down east this morning [later]. Got to go to a visitation at a funeral home tonight. Wildlife Officer buddy was kille din motorcycle accident. Probably in his late 30's. Sad. Funny, got to ship Lionel Legacy back to Lionel for upgrade. Does not bother me as I still have my TMCC and two Cab1's. Still, I find it unique to have to ship it all back. Will be returned enhanced and a lot better. So worth the wait. Have a good one.

Morning all. Glad you're healing, Jeffrey. Sunny and warm here in Chicago. Just about caught up at work. Thanks for the insights, John. Sounds like a trip for us to plan before the kids get older.
